Refund AI credits for unsuccessful generations

Learn how to get a refund on used AI credits for AI generations that are unusable.

We know it’s frustrating when a generation doesn’t work as expected, especially as it uses AI credits. That's why we have an AI credit refund system for unsuccessful AI generations.

This guide explains when credits are refunded, how you can apply for an AI credit refund, and which features are eligible for refunds.

How refunds work

AI credits are refunded for technical issues and can also be refunded for quality issues.

Technical issues with generation

AI credits are refunded automatically for any generation that fails due to a technical error. You don't need to do anything, the credits remain in your allowance.

Quality issues

If you get a result that isn't good enough, you can report it as a bad generation (see How to apply for a refund, later in this article). We can then refund your AI credits .

You'll need to report the low quality shortly after the generation happens, as there is a time limit for refunds.

How to apply for a refund

To apply for a refund:

  1. Select the context menu for the AI generated image.

  2. Select Bad result.

  3. Provide details about why it is a bad result.

  4. Select Submit.


If your request is successful, Photoroom displays a notification to tell you about your refund.

If your request is unsuccessful, you will see a thank you for your feedback message. Your AI credits are not refunded.

Why has your refund application been unsuccessful?

We aim to protect you when results are clearly unusable. If a generation doesn’t qualify for a refund, it may be because:

  • You waited too long to request a refund.

  • The image or video was not recognized as "clearly unusable".

  • There are multiple refund requests for the same image/video.

Note: We have safeguards in place to prevent misuse while still protecting users from poor results.

Are all AI features eligible for refunds?

No, some features are excluded (see the table below).

Note: AI Tools such as Recolor and Flat Lay are not eligible for refunds when used inside the Batch Editor or the Product Catalog Editor.
