Recolor product images for Shopify (iOS)

How to use Photoroom to change or fine-tune the colors of product images for Shopify.

If you're using Photoroom for Shopify, you can easily fine-tune or change the colors in your product images. The Product catalog editor has a Recolor feature that lets you create consistent colors across multiple images while preserving texture and detail.

Before and after. Before image is a white t-shirt, but looks lilac because of the lighting. Recolor has been used to make the T-shirt white in other images.

Availability

Requires AI credits

Photoroom for Shopify requires a Max or Ultra plan to export and publish.

Limits apply:

  • Users in a Pro Space can use Recolor on individual images

  • Users in a Max or Ultra Space can use Recolor on multiple images at once.

This article explains how to use Recolor in the Product catalog on the iOS version of Photoroom. For other platforms, see:

Steps (iOS)

To recolor one or more images in a batch, follow the stages below. Some stages are optional. The video below shows all stages.

Stage 1: Access the Recolor tool in Product catalog

  1. Select AI Tools.

  2. Select Recolor.

  3. Select the product images you will use to generate recolored images.

Important: Make sure you select AI Tools > Recolor from inside Photoroom for Shopify. If you're outside Photoroom for Shopify, the standalone Recolor feature will open instead.

Stage 2: Use the Recolor settings

Use the Recolor settings to tell Photoroom what you want to create.

Swipe the options bar to access:

  • Color selector
Use to choose your target color. It will replace the color(s) in the image.

  • Quality
Choose the Quality (availability depends on your subscription):

    • Standard
Pro and higher. 1k resolution, simpler but fastest AI model, consumes fewer AI credits than Advanced.

    • Advanced
Max and higher. 2k resolution, better AI model than Standard, consumes more AI credits than Standard, fewer than Premium.

    • Premium
Ultra. 4k+ resolution, best AI model, consumes most AI credits.

  • Size
Choose the aspect ratio for the image.

  • Brand
Choose whether your Brand description (set in the Brand Kit) should influence the AI when it generates your images.

You can edit the brand description if needed. Be aware that any changes you make will affect the brand description across the entire Space.

  • Prompt
Describe the parts you want Photoroom to recolor, for example, "recolor the body and sleeves of the T-shirt".

When you have made your choices:

  1. Select the arrow button to generate images.

  2. [Optional] Change the settings and generate again to make different images.

Stage 3: [Optional] Make further changes

In your Product catalog, you can:

  • Use the other Product catalog options to further edit the images.

  • Tap on an image to open it in the main editor. This works in the same way as the Edit option, explained below.

  • Long-press on an image to display a menu with options, described below.

The options are:

  • Edit
Use Edit to open the image in the main editor. In the main editor, you can make changes that are not supported in the Product Catalog Editor, such as adding text or editing individual layers. To learn more, see Edit a Product catalog image in the main editor (iOS).

When you exit the main editor, you can choose to apply the changes to all images for the product. This works in the same way as editing individual images in Batch (see How does "Apply recent edits to all" work?)

  • Duplicate
Use Duplicate to create a copy of the image.

  • Delete
Use Delete to remove the image from Photoroom.

  • Save as a template
Save the image as a template that you can edit and then use for other images. This works in the same way as saving Batch images as templates. To learn more, see Save Batch images as templates (iOS).

  • Export
Save the image to your device.

Stage 4: Publish
