Create a reflection effect

Learn how to use the Shadow settings to create a reflection effect

A reflection effect can add a stylish touch to minimalistic images and make them look even more professional.

To add reflections in Photoroom, use the Reflection feature. It is available when you edit a design and select a foreground object. For instructions, select the link for your device:


On iPhone and iPad

To create a reflection effect on the iPhone or iPad version of Photoroom:

  1. On the Create page, select Your Content and choose the design you want to edit. Alternatively, select Start from Photo, and create a new design.

  2. Select the foreground object that you want to have the reflection effect.

  3. Use the Reflection slider to turn the reflection effect on.

  4. [Optional] Use the slider to set the Opacity of the reflection. This is the amount of transparency.

  5. [Optional] Select Move and then use pinch gestures to reposition the reflection. Select Done to confirm the move.

  6. [Optional] Use the editing settings to make further changes to your image.

  7. Select Export. Use the export settings to save and share your design.


On Android

To create a reflection effect on the Android version of Photoroom:

  1. On the Create page, select Your Content and choose the design you want to edit. Alternatively, select Start from Photo, and create a new design.

  2. Select the foreground object that you want to have the reflection effect.

  3. Use the Reflection slider to turn the reflection effect on.

  4. [Optional] Use the slider to set the Intensity of the reflection. This is the amount of transparency.

  5. [Optional] Select Move and then use pinch gestures to reposition the reflection. Select Done to confirm the move.

  6. [Optional] Use the editing settings to make further changes to your image.

  7. Select Export. Use the export settings to save and share your design.


On Web App

To create a reflection on the Web App (desktop) version of Photoroom:

  1. Log in to the web app at app.photoroom.com

  2. Select Designs and choose the design you want to edit. Alternatively, select Create and make a new design.

  3. Select the foreground object that you want to have the reflection effect.

  4. Use the Reflection slider to turn the reflection effect on.

  5. [Optional] Use the slider to set the Opacity of the reflection. This is the amount of transparency.

  6. [Optional] Select Move and then drag the reflection to reposition it. Select the back arrow next to the Move heading to confirm the move.

  7. [Optional] Select the Reflection row in the settings to redisplay the reflection options. Then select Angle and use the slider to change the perspective of the reflection.

  8. [Optional] Use the editing settings to make further changes to your image.

  9. Select Download to save your design and download a local copy in the browser. Enter the name for the download file and choose its format.
