In this article, we're going to explain how you can:
Create a batch of images that keep their original backgrounds
Resize those images all at once.
This is a common requirement for product photos, where good quality images already exist, but need to be resized for different uses, such as social media. For example, in the image below, the batch images keep their original background and are resized from a square canvas to a rectangular portrait canvas.
On iPhone
To keep the original background and resize the images in a batch:
Select the Space you want to work in.
Select Batch.
Select Start Batch.
Alternatively, you can select the Resume link to edit the last batch you made. If you choose to resume, ignore step 4 and continue from step 5.
Select the photos you want to include in your batch. Select the check mark or Add images to confirm.
Select Original image on the Templates tab.
Select the Resize tab.
Select the size you want.
If your images do not fit the new canvas size:
Select an image to open it in the editor.
Select the background layer and use a gesture to resize it to fill the canvas space.
Select the foreground layer and resize it to fit with the resized background layer.
Either:
Select Next to load the next image into the editor. Resize the foreground and background if necessary. When you have resized the images, you can select X or Done (on the last image) to exit the editor.
Select X to exit the editor.
Wait for the Apply to all message to close automatically. Do not select Apply to all as this will take the changes you made to the last image you edited and apply them to every image.
[Optional] Use the Batch features to edit all of the images at once. You can also select an individual image to open it in the main editor and then use the settings to add text, graphics, logos, etc.
Select Export images. Use the options to save the images. You can also share them.
Note: Images produced in Batch are not saved as designs in Photoroom. They are only exported as image files. To save them as designs, you can export them and then import them individually and save (see Save Batch images to a Space).
On Android

Select the Space you want to work in.

Alternatively, you can select the Resume link to edit the last batch you made. If you choose to resume, ignore step 4 and continue from step 5.
Select the photos you want to include in your batch. Select Add images to confirm.
Select Original on the Templates tab.
Select the Resize tab.
Select the size you want.
[Optional] Use the Batch features to edit all of the images at once. You can also select an individual image to open it in the main editor and then use the settings to add text, graphics, logos, etc.
Select Export images. Use the options to save the images. You can also share them.

On Web App
To create a batch of images, restore their original backgrounds, and then resize the images:
Log in at app.photoroom.com.
Select the Space you want to work in.
Select Batch.
Either:
Select Import images and then select the image files you want to include in your batch.
Select Import folder and then select a folder that contains all of the image files you want to include in your batch.
To restore the original backgrounds, either:
Select Background and then turn Remove original backgrounds off.
Select Templates and then select Original image in the Classics category. Click next to the Classics heading to display the See all link and arrow buttons. Use those to scroll to the Original image template.
Select Resize.
Choose a pre-made size or select Custom Size and enter the size you want. When you resize, Photoroom will automatically adapt your images to fit the new canvas size.
[Optional] Select an image to open it in the editor. Use the editor settings to make further changes, such as adding text or graphics. Select < Batch mode to exit the editor and return to the Batch Mode screen.
Select Download images.
Enter a name for the zip file that will download. The zip file will contain a folder that has the same name and your image files will be inside that.
Select a file Format. Choose from PNG (best for quality and transparent backgrounds, but largest file size), JPEG, and WEBP.
Select Download to download the zip file in your browser.
Use your file explorer to unzip the folder and extract the image files.
You can now use your file explorer to unzip the folder and extract the image files. Once extracted, you can use them in other applications.
