You can crop an image to remove an unwanted area of a photo or to get the composition you want.

Note: The crop feature is only available on iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.

The steps to crop a design are similar on Apple devices and Android devices:

(Video shows Photoroom on iPhone)

  1. On the Create page, select Your Content.

  2. Select the design that you want to crop.

If you have not yet added your design, select Create new and upload a photo.

  3. Select the settings for the foreground object.

  4. Select Edit Cutout.

  5. Select the crop icon in the toolbar.

Close-up of toolbar at the top of the Edit Cutout screen. An arrow points to the crop icon.
  6. Drag the edges of the crop box to remove parts of the image. The area inside the box is what will remain after the cropping.

  7. Select Done.

  8. Use the handles to resize and reposition the cropped image on the background.

  9. This step only applies if your image has an AI-generated background.

Select Background and then Regenerate Background.

You will need to do this any time that you change the foreground objects. The AI will then redesign the background to suit the foreground objects.

  10. Select the back icon to finish.

Photoroom saves your edited image. You can access it from Your Content.
