What is AI Backgrounds?

With Photoroom's AI Backgrounds, you can use AI to create any background you want. The AI will suggest backgrounds that might be suitable for your design or you can create your own by entering a description (called a prompt). Let your imagination run wild!

​Note: AI Backgrounds replaces the "Instant Backgrounds" feature from earlier versions of Photoroom.

Availability of AI Backgrounds

AI Backgrounds is available on all plans and platforms.

Plans: Free, Pro, Max.

Platforms: iPhone, iPad, Android, Web App.

There are limitations on the number of AI Background images you can generate per day. These vary depending on your plan, platform, and the AI model you use. To learn about the limits, see Export limits and AI generation limits.

How can I start creating AI Backgrounds?

Here's a quick overview of how to create an AI Background:

  1. Import your photo and let Photoroom remove its background. Then select AI Backgrounds.

  2. Choose an AI Background from the list or select Create a background to make your own.

  3. If you are making your own AI Background:

    1. Enter a description (prompt) and press the arrow button to generate some images.

    2. Select Generate more to get the AI to create more images based on your prompt.

    3. Select the AI Background that you like best.
