This article provides a quick overview of the new single-panel interface on the web version of Photoroom. This update introduces a more efficient layout designed to improve the experience by minimizing distractions and maximizing the workspace.
What’s Changed
Old vs. New Layout:
Previously, we used a two-panel layout that divided the workspace into separate sections for tools and editing. The new design consolidates these elements into a single, streamlined panel, offering a larger canvas and easier access to tools.
Benefits of the single-panel layout:
Increased Workspace: Eliminating one panel frees up screen real estate, making more room for editing (see the screenshots below).
Enhanced Focus: Fewer on-screen elements reduce cognitive load, allowing you to focus more on the creative aspects of your projects.
All tools that were previously spread across two panels are now located in a consolidated sidebar on the right end of the editor.

New Layout:
The new single-panel editor represents our commitment to continuously improving user experience by offering cleaner, more intuitive design solutions.
Introducing the Background Switcher
You can easily change your background by clicking on the Backgrounds tab of the top navigation bar.
You can also access the Background Switcher in the sidebar when selecting your background on the editor.
Background color panel
With the Background Switcher, we introduced a new way to pick up a solid color for your background and refreshed its design to make it simple and clear. This is a big first step towards improving the color experience on Photoroom and paves the way for more features to come around colors.
