When you import an image into Photoroom, there are limits on the resolution of the image. The limits vary depending on your plan and the version of Photoroom you are using.
Note: Higher resolutions are available via API. For details, see our API documentation.
On iPhone and iPad
On iPhone and iPad, the import limits vary depending on the Optimize settings.
Import Limit | Applies when ... |
2400 × 2400 pixels | Optimize for app performance is selected |
4032 × 4032 pixels | Optimize for image quality is selected |
The optimize options are available in the Photoroom Settings. For instructions, see Optimize for image quality or app performance.
Note: Photoroom does not upscale any images that you import (although it may reduce their quality to fit the export limits). For example, let's say you import a low resolution photo and then choose a template that is 4032px × 4032px. When you export it, you will get a 4032 × 4032 design, but the imported image part of the design will remain low resolution and will look less detailed.
On Android
On Android devices, the import limit is 2000 × 2000 pixels. We are planning on increasing this limit in future versions of Photoroom.
On Web App
On the Web App version of Photoroom, the import limits vary depending on whether you are importing with Batch mode.
Import Limit | Applies when ... |
2000 × 2000 pixels | Using Batch mode |
4032 × 4032 pixels | When not using Batch mode |
If you are not using Batch mode and you upload an image larger than 4032px, Photoroom will scale down the image. It scales down the largest side to 4032px and then scales the other sides proportionately.
