AI credits and Batch export count

Learn how AI credits and the Batch export count work and how to track your usage of both.

Every Photoroom plan includes:

  • Credits for AI images and credits for AI videos, which are shared across a Space.

  • A set amount of exports for use with the Batch feature, shared across a Space.

In this article, we’ll explain how AI credits and the Batch export count work and what is included with each plan. We also answer some common questions and explain how to track usage.

Image shows Photoroom on an iPhone with a close-up of the usage statistics.

How AI credits work

Each Space is given a shared pool of AI credits. Whenever you or someone in your Space uses an AI feature, the cost in credits is automatically deducted from the pool.

  • The number of AI credits depends on your subscription.

  • The cost of each AI feature varies. More advanced AI features like Virtual Model cost more AI credits than simpler ones like AI Backgrounds.

  • AI credits renew weekly or monthly*, depending on your subscription.

  • You’ll receive an in-app notification when you reach 80% of your limit.

  • You can track your usage in Photoroom (scroll down for instructions).

*Weekly subscriptions get weekly AI credit renewals; Monthly and yearly subscriptions get monthly AI credit renewals.

How many AI credits does each plan get?

AI credits can fluctuate due to the rapidly changing costs of generative AI tools. For this reason, we are unable to provide exact numbers for limits. But limits will always be higher for paying subscribers and allowances will always scale as you move up plan tiers.

By taking this flexible approach, we’ll be able to increase your credits when the cost of AI models goes down.

This table gives you an idea of which plan is right for you.

To give you an idea, the Pro plan is ideal for users who list fewer than 30 products per month and have simple workflows for creating their listing visuals.

The Max plan, on the other hand, is designed for users who list up to 100 products per month and need more advanced visuals, multiple variations, and automation capabilities.

What counts as an AI generation?

Every time you use an AI feature, it counts as an AI generation. This applies to all AI features.

For example, if you are using AI Backgrounds and select Generate more, Photoroom will generate 2 more images — this counts as 2 additional generations.

Note: Background removal does not cost any AI credits.

How Batch export count works

Each Space has a limited number of Batch exports per month/week. Whenever you or someone in your Space uses Batch to export images, it counts towards this limit.

  • You are granted a total number of images you can export using Batch.

  • If you have a subscription, you will be able to edit up to 100 images per batch (previously 50 for Pro users). We’re also working on raising the limit to 250 images per batch across all platforms — it’s already available on mobile.

  • Export quotas are reset monthly (or weekly for weekly plans).

Note: If you use AI features in Batch edits, they cost AI credits. These are automatically deducted from your Space’s AI credits.

What happens if you hit the Batch export limit?

You can upgrade your subscription any time. Higher plans have larger export limits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you limiting Batch Mode?

The value of Batch Mode is automation — it saves hours of manual work by letting you process and export photos automatically. It’s a tool built to help sellers scale their workflow effortlessly.
Some users now process hundreds or even tens of thousands of images each month, saving enormous amounts of time and creating real business value through automation.
To keep things fair and sustainable, those who use Batch the most — and benefit from it the most — contribute more through higher plans.

What counts as AI generation credits?

Any feature that uses AI to generate something. It includes AI Backgrounds, AI Shadows, Virtual Model, etc... Background removals, white backgrounds, templates are excluded.

When do limits reset?

  1. Free users: limits don't reset

  2. Weekly subscribers: limits reset every week on renewal date.

  3. Monthly and Yearly users: limits reset every month on the date of the subscription. If you subscribed on July 15th, limits will reset on the 15th of every month.

As a Batch user, will I also use AI credits?

Batch exports and AI credits are two separate limits.
If you’re simply using Batch Mode to remove backgrounds or edit manually, you’ll only be limited by your Batch export quota.
If you use AI-powered tools inside Batch — like AI Backgrounds, Virtual Model, or Ghost Mannequin — those actions will also use your AI credits, since they rely on generative AI models.
This separation keeps things transparent: you only use AI credits when you’re actually generating new content with AI.

Are limits shared with my team?

Yes.
AI generation and Batch export limits are shared within each workspace.
That means everyone you invite contributes to the same credit pool — collaboration made easy, not costly.

When do generation credits renew?

Generation credits reset automatically based on your billing cycle:

  • Weekly plans: credits reset every week (with lower limits).

  • Monthly and Yearly plans: credits reset every month.

You’ll always see your usage in-app, so you know exactly when your next renewal happens.
