AI credits are the currency Photoroom uses for most of its AI features, like generating images and creating videos. Your subscription includes a set amount of AI credits which you and your team can spend on image and video generation, however you like.

In this article, we'll explain how AI credits work and what is included with each plan. We also answer some common questions.

How AI credits work

Each Space is given a shared allowance (also called a pool) of AI credits. Whenever you or someone in your Space uses an AI feature, the cost in credits is automatically deducted from the pool.

The AI credits are consumed when you set Photoroom to generate an image.

Example:

Let’s say you use AI Fashion Models to generate an image. In the same Space, a teammate uses Ghost Mannequin to generate an image.

Photoroom deducts the cost of the AI Fashion Models image and the Ghost Mannequin image from the Space’s AI credits pool.

The important concept here is: There is a single pool of AI credits for the Space. It doesn’t matter which AI tools are used in that Space, they all consume AI credits from the same pool.

How many AI credits does each plan get?

Every paid plan includes a monthly AI credit allowance. The number of images or videos you can create varies, depending on:

Which AI tools you use (the tools consume different numbers of AI credits)
The subscription (plan) for the Space you are working in
The amount of AI credits remaining in the monthly allowance.

Note: The AI credit allowance may vary depending on your plan and region.

How many images/videos can I generate?

Each AI tool uses a different number of credits depending on its complexity. So the number of images or videos you can generate will vary depending on:

Which AI tools you use (the tools consume different numbers of AI credits)
The subscription (plan) for the Space you are working in
The amount of AI credits remaining in the monthly allowance.

Example: Maximum generations using a single AI tool

Important! These figures are based on using all of your AI credits on a single AI tool.

Note: For Ultra 2×, Ultra 5×, and Ultra 10×, multiply the regular Ultra amount by 2, 5, and 10 respectively. For example, with Ultra 5× you could generate up to 750 videos (regular Ultra = up to 150, 150×5=750).

Example: AI credit spend with multiple AI tools

Let's say you are working in a Space that has the Max plan with a 25,000 AI credit allowance. The AI credit limit could be reached by using a combination of AI tools like this:

3,000 images with AI Fashion Model 1K (5 credits each) = 15,000 credits
50 exports with HD export 2K (135 credits each) = 6,750 credits
325 edits with AI Shadows (advanced) (10 credits each) = 3,250 credits

Total: 25,000 credits

The total output depends on the combination of tools used, not just one flat number.

How many AI-generated images can I export?

This depends on the Export limit, which is a separate concept. To learn more, see Export limit.

What counts as an AI generation?

Each time you use an AI feature to generate (or update) an image or video, it counts as one AI generation and uses AI credits.

For example, if you use AI Fashion Models to generate an image, that counts as one AI generation and uses credits. If you then use Edit with AI to make changes to the AI Fashion Models image, that counts as another AI generation and uses more credits.

Note: In the Batch editor and product editor, each image update/generation counts as one generation. So if you update 10 images in a Batch, it counts as 10 generations.

Do all AI features use the same amount of credits?

No.

Video costs more than images
Higher resolution outputs cost more than lower resolution outputs for the same tool
More complex tools cost more than simpler tools.

What if an AI generation fails?

If a generation fails due to a technical error, the credits used for that generation are refunded automatically. No action is needed on your part.

What if I run out of AI credits?

If you run out of AI credits before your renewal date, you have two options. You can upgrade to a higher tier subscription with a larger allowance, or you can wait until your credits renew automatically on your next renewal date.

When do AI credits renew?

AI credits renew automatically at regular intervals:

Subscription	Renewal date
Weekly	Every week on the same day you subscribed.
Monthly	Every month on the same date that you subscribed. For example, if you subscribed on the 15th, the renewal will take place on the 15th each month.
Yearly	Credits still renew monthly, on the same date that you subscribed. For example, if you subscribed on the 15th, the renewal will take place on the 15th each month.

Note: On the day of renewal, the AI credits are updated at approximately the same time of day that you subscribed. For example, if you subscribed at 02:11 UTC, your AI credits will be renewed at 02:11 UTC.
