Photoroom's background features make it easy to change the backgrounds of your designs. You can quickly swap a background for a different color, another image, or an AI Background.
Note: AI Backgrounds require AI credits.
In this article, we explain how to replace a background using the Android version of Photoroom. If you are using the iOS or Web App version of Photoroom, see:

On Android
To replace the background of an existing design:
Select the Space you want to work in.
Select Content.
Select the design that has the background you want to replace.
Select the background layer.
Note: If your image is on a single layer, you will not see any changes you make to the background. Your foreground layer will cover the background layer. To get your background and foreground on separate layers, re-import the image and use the Original background template.
Select Change background (or Add background if the background layer is empty).
Either:
Select AI Backgrounds to replace the background with an AI-generated background.
Select Color and choose a color. You may need to swipe up to see all of the color settings.
Select Image and choose an image. You can:
upload a new image
generate a new image with AI
choose from recently created designs
choose from a range of suggested backgrounds.
Select an image from your Brand kit.
Select Erase for a transparent background.
Select Done to close the background layer.
[Optional] Select Export to save your design and download it to your device as an image file. You can also use the export settings to share your image and design.
Select Done.
