How to choose a source image file by uploading an image or selecting an image that already exists in Photoroom. Web App.

Many Photoroom tools and features require a source image. A source image is an image that is used as a starting point for:

  • Editing

  • Using AI to generate a new image.

For example, if you wanted to remove the background from a photo, the photo is the source image.

On the Web App, Photoroom prompts you to provide an image in one of two ways:

  • It displays a file explorer so that you can upload a file

    Folder explorer on Mac

  • It displays an Add images dialog, where you can upload a file or select an image that already exists in Photoroom.

In this article, we explain how the Add images dialog works.

Ways to access the Add images dialog

You can access the Add images dialog by selecting:

  • Start from a photo on the Home screen

  • The select an image option for tools and features that require a source image, such as AI Fashion Models and Ghost Mannequin

  • Import images when creating a Batch

  • Add images in a Batch

  • Add images in a Product in the Product Catalog.

When you have displayed the Add Images dialog, use the tabs to add or choose images. We explain how to use each tab in the sections below.

Note: The tabs only show images that are available in the Space you are working in.

All

The All tab is a combination of the other tabs. Use it to choose which image(s) to use with the selected AI tool.

Add Images dialog showing the All tab.

You can:

  • Upload images to use with the AI tool

  • Choose an image from the recent Uploads

  • Use Shopify products to choose a Shopify product image

  • Choose from recently generated AI images

  • Choose from recently saved Designs.

You can also perform all of these tasks from the relevant tabs, for example, you can upload new images on the Uploads tab.

Uploads

Add Images dialog showing the Uploads tab.

Use the Uploads tab to:

  • Choose a previously uploaded image from the grid
The grid shows the images that have been uploaded to the Space.

  • Upload new images
Use the Upload images option to upload your image files or drag-and-drop them into the box.

Photoroom adds your chosen image(s) to the AI tool's settings. You can then use the other AI tool settings to generate an image.

Shopify products

This tab is for people who have set up Photoroom for Shopify (a connector that lets you use Photoroom to publish images directly to Shopify).

Add Images dialog showing the Shopify products tab.

Use the Shopify products tab to use a product image:

  1. Choose a product from the grid or use the Search to find a product by name.

  2. Select one or more of the product's images to use with the AI tool.

Photoroom adds your chosen image(s) to the AI tool's settings. You can then use the other AI tool settings to generate an image.

AI Images

The AI images tab shows a history of AI images that have been generated in the Space. Select the image(s) you want to use with the AI tool.

Add Images dialog showing the AI images tab.

By default, the AI images tab is set to show images from All tools. Use the tool filter options at the top to only show certain types of AI image. For example, select Product Beautifier to make the grid only show images that were generated using the Product Beautifier tool.

Tip: Use the arrow buttons to scroll the filter options.

Photoroom adds your chosen image(s) to the AI tool's settings. You can then use the other AI tool settings to generate an image.

Designs

The Designs tab shows the images that have been saved as designs in the Space.

Add Images dialog showing the Designs tab.

If you have used folders to organize your designs, you can select a folder and then choose a design from inside it. Alternatively, select the design(s) from the grid. The grid is organized so that the most recently saved designs appear at the top.

Photoroom adds your chosen image(s) to the AI tool's settings. You can then use the other AI tool settings to generate an image.

Google Drive
