An overview of how to use Photoroom's Video Ad Maker to create short videos for ads and social media.

Written by Craig Wright

Video Ad Maker lets you turn your product photos into short videos for ads and social media. Each video is built around your product and can include:

  • AI actors

  • Music

  • Your product shown in realistic scenes

  • AI voice-over in a choice of languages, so you can create ads for international markets without reshooting or re-editing.

You don't need any video editing or prompting skills to use Video Ad Maker. Just provide your product photos, answer some questions in a chat, and leave the rest to Photoroom's AI director.

Note: Video Ad Maker is currently being rolled out on the Web App and iOS. Android will follow later.

Steps

The following instructions are a general guideline for using Video Ad Maker. They cover the iOS and Web App versions of Photoroom.

For details of each step, see the sections below.

  1. Open Video Ad Maker and provide some images.

  2. Choose your preferences.

  3. Complete the chat with the AI director.

  4. Generate a video.

  5. Play, download and [optionally] regenerate the video.

Note: More detailed, platform-specific instructions will be released at a later date.

Open Video Ad Maker and provide some images

To open the Video Ad Maker tool:

  • Select Video Ad Maker in the side menu (Web App)

  • Select AI Tools and then Video Ad Maker (iOS).

When you have opened the tool, select the + icons to upload or choose images of your product. For best results, we recommend you use images that show your product from different angles (side, top, bottom, front, rear).

Next, choose your preferences.

Choose your preferences

Use the settings to choose your preferences for the video. You can choose specific values or select Auto to let the AI director decide. The AI director will choose the option that it thinks is most appropriate based on the settings and plan for the video.

Note: The preferences are all optional.

  • Actor
Choose the actor model to use in the video or choose Auto.

  • Audio
Choose the sound for your video. You can have a voice-over, music only, silence, or leave it to Auto.

  • Language
Choose the language for the video. You can choose a specific language or set it to Auto. On Auto, if the video has a voice-over, the AI director will ask you to choose a language during the chat stage.

  • Prompt
If you have an idea for a video or want to provide additional information, enter it in the prompt. This is entirely optional and Video Ad Maker can create a video with an empty prompt.

Note: Your choices may be overridden later to match the answers you provide or by your choices in the chat.

When you have made your choices, select the arrow button to begin the chat stage.

Complete the chat with the AI director

During the chat stage, Photoroom's AI director will ask you a series of questions about your video. The questions can vary depending on what:

  • Product photos you provided

  • Preferences you chose

  • Information you included in the prompt.

Answer the questions and choose from the options when the AI director presents them in the chat.

Typically, the AI director asks you to choose:

  • Format

  • Duration

  • Who or what is on camera

  • Tone (vibe)

  • Audio and language

  • Style of video

  • Marketing angle

Towards the end of the chat, the AI director asks you to review the video plan. If you want to make changes, you can Customize the plan (Web App) or use the prompt to request changes. If the video is having a voice-over, you also get the opportunity to edit the AI-generated script.

Generate a video

When you are happy to go ahead with the video plan, select Generate video to create the video. The cost of the video generation (in AI credits) is shown on the button.

Play, download, regenerate

When the video has generated, you can:

  • Play it

  • Download it (Web App)

  • Save it (iOS)

  • Regenerate it using the same settings or with a change (Web App)

  • Use the prompt to request changes and select the arrow button to generate a new video.

Troubleshooting

If the Video Ad Maker is unable to generate a video based on your images and choices, it will notify you in the chat. You can use the prompt to request changes, for example, to use a different video plan if the chosen one is unsuitable.
