Add a frame to your design

Learn how to add a frame to your image for a more professional-looking design

Photoroom's Graphics library includes frames that you can add to your designs to give them a more professional look. Framing can give a design better balance and make it appear less empty.



On iPhone and iPad

To add a frame to a design on the iPhone or iPad version of Photoroom:

  1. On the Create page, select Start from Photo and then select a photo to import.
    Alternatively, select Your Content and choose one of your existing designs to work with.

  2. This step only applies if you imported a photo. Either select a template for your design's background or create an AI background. AI backgrounds are only available on the Pro and Business plans.

    Photoroom opens your design in the editor.

  3. Select Insert.

  4. Find the Graphics section and select Frames.

  5. Choose a frame from the collection.

    Photoroom adds the frame to your design as a new layer.

  6. Move the frame into position and use gestures to change its size, if needed.

  7. [Optional] Use the settings on the Frame layer to change the frame's color and apply effects such as shadows and reflections.

  8. Select Done to close the Frame layer settings.

  9. [Optional] Use the other settings on the editor to add text, add other images, resize the design, apply AI backgrounds and shadows.

  10. Select Export. Use the export settings to save and share your design. To learn more about the export settings, see Export a design.

  11. Select Done.


On Android

To add a frame to a design on the Android version of Photoroom:

  1. On the Create page, select Start from Photo and then select a photo to import.
    Alternatively, select Your Content and choose one of your existing designs to work with.

  2. This step only applies if you imported a photo. Either select a template for your design's background or create an AI background. AI backgrounds are only available on the Pro and Business plans.

    Photoroom opens your design in the editor.

  3. Select Insert.

  4. Find the Graphics section and select Frames.

  5. Choose a frame from the collection.

    Photoroom adds the frame to your design as a new layer.

  6. [Optional] Use the settings on the Frame layer to change the frame's color and apply effects such as shadows and reflections.

  7. Select Done to close the frame layer settings.

  8. [Optional] Use the other settings on the editor to add text, add other images, resize the design, apply AI backgrounds and shadows.

  9. Select Export. Use the export settings to save and share your design. To learn more about the export settings, see Export a design.

  10. Select Done.


On Web App

To add a frame to a design on the web app (desktop) version of Photoroom:

  1. Log in to Photoroom at app.photoroom.com.

    Tip: Make sure you are working in the appropriate workspace. Use the selector at the top of the left side panel to choose a workspace.

  2. Use Select a photo to upload a photo to Photoroom. Alternatively, select Designs and choose one of your existing designs to work with.

    Photoroom opens your design in the editor.

  3. This step only applies if you imported a photo. Either select a template for your design's background or create an AI background. AI backgrounds are only available on the Pro and Business plans.

  4. Select Insert.

  5. Find the Graphics section and select Frames.

  6. Choose a frame from the collection.

    Photoroom adds the frame to your design as a new layer.

  7. Use the frame's handles to resize and position the frame.

  8. [Optional] Use the settings on the Frame layer to change the frame's color and apply effects such as shadows and reflections.

    Tip: Select the gray space behind your design to close the currently displayed layer.

  9. [Optional] Use the other settings on the editor to add text, add other images, resize the design, apply AI backgrounds and shadows.

  10. Select Download. Use the download settings to save your design in Photoroom and also to download a local copy of the file. To learn more about the download settings, see Export a design.
