Export a design

Learn how to save and share a Photoroom design

With Photoroom's Export feature, you can:

  • Save a design to a workspace in Photoroom, either your personal workspace or a team workspace

  • Save a design to a photo gallery or a folder on your device

  • Share a design with other people via email, shared drives or messaging apps

  • Download your design as an image file (on the Web App).

Note: Free users can save up to 10 projects and Photoroom Pro users can save unlimited projects.


On iPhone and iPad

To export a design (or just save it in Photoroom) on iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open a design in the editor.

    For this, you can either:

    1. Create a new design from the Create page (see Create your first Photoroom design).

    2. Select Your Content and open one of your existing designs.

  2. Select Export. Alternatively, select the Export icon at the top.

  3. [Optional] At the top of the export page, Photoroom shows the file name and file type for the design. To change it, select Options to display the Saving options dialog.

    On the Saving options dialog:

    1. Select the workspace that you want your design to be stored in.

    2. Choose whether you want to Keep original file name, use the File name from camera, or use a different name. To use a different name, select the X next to the existing name and then enter the new file name.

    3. Choose the export format.
      You can choose to always export in .png, always export in .jpg, or leave it to Photoroom to decide which format is Best for image.

  4. [Optional] Select any of the export options:

    1. Save Image to save the design to your device's photo gallery.

    2. Share to send the design to contacts or to share it using another app, such as Mail or a social media app.

    3. Save to Files to store the design in a folder on your device.

    4. Messages to send the design in an SMS message.

    5. Share Link to copy a link to the design to your device's clipboard.

  5. If you chose to share the design, follow the on-screen workflow to choose the recipient(s).

  6. Select Done.

    Photoroom will automatically save your design to your chosen workspace.


On Android

To export a design (or just save it in Photoroom) on Android:

  1. Open a design in the editor.

    For this, you can either:

    1. Create a new design from the Create page (see Create your first Photoroom design).

    2. Select Your Content and open one of your existing designs.

  2. Select Export. Alternatively, select the Export icon at the top.

  3. [Optional] At the top of the export page, Photoroom shows the file name and file type for the design. To change it, select Options to display the Options dialog.

    On the Options dialog:

    1. Choose whether you want to export the file as a jpg, png, or webp file.

    2. Choose whether you want to Keep original file name, use the File name from camera, or use a different name. To use a different name, select the pencil icon next to the existing name and then enter the new file name.

  4. [Optional] To change the workspace that Photoroom will store your design in, select the workspace link next to "Auto-saved in". The link name is the same as the current workspace, for example, Personal space. Choose a different workspace from the list.

  5. [Optional] Select any of the export options:

    1. Save to Gallery to save the design to your device's photo gallery.

    2. Share to send the design to contacts or to share it using another app, such as Mail or a social media app.

    3. Share link (Collaborate) to copy a link to the design to your clipboard. You can then share the link by pasting it into other apps.

    4. Save to Files to store the design in a folder on your device.

    5. Etsy to upload the design to your Etsy account.

  6. If you chose to share the design, follow the on-screen workflow to choose the recipient(s).

  7. Select Done.

    Photoroom will automatically save your design to your chosen workspace.


On Web App

To export a design (or just save it in Photoroom) on Android:

  1. Log in to the web app at app.photoroom.com.

  2. Choose your workspace. Photoroom will save your design in the selected workspace.

  3. On the Create page, select Select a photo, upload a photo and then edit it. For instructions, see Create your first Photoroom design.
    Alternatively, select Designs and then select the design you want to export.

  4. Select the Download button.

  5. Enter a file name for the download.

  6. Choose a file format. You can choose from .png, .jpg, or .webp.

  7. Select Download.
    Your browser downloads the image file. Photoroom automatically saves your design in your chosen workspace.
