If you are on the Pro or Business plan, you can resize your designs for other uses. For example, you could resize a design for sharing on social media sites or online marketplaces. Photoroom has a range of preset sizes available or you can set a custom size.

When you resize an image, Photoroom's AI automatically changes your design background to suit the new size. So you can turn a landscape design into a portrait design without distortion - the AI will fill in any extra space!

Side-by-side comparison of the same image as portrait and landscape. The AI adjusts the image to suit the canvas size.

On iPhone and iPad

To resize an image on iPhone and iPad versions of Photoroom:

  1. On the Create page, select Your Content and then select the design you want to resize.

  2. Select Resize.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Select a size from the list

    • Select Custom Dimensions and then add your own sizes and select Continue.

  4. When you choose a size, Photoroom's AI automatically expands or crops the background of your design to fit the new size. During this process, it may alter the background a little. To get the AI to generate alternative versions, select Variations.

  5. When you see an AI background that you like, select it and then select Resize to confirm.

  6. Select Export. Use the export options to save and share your design.

  1. Select Your Content and choose the design that you want to resize.

  2. Select Resize.

  3. Either select one of the predesigned sizes or select Custom. If you select Custom, you can enter the width and height.

  4. Select:

    1. Fill
To resize the design from the center so that the objects in the design fill the canvas. The design may go outside of the canvas boundaries.

    2. Fit
To resize the design so that the entire image fits on the canvas.

  5. Drag the image to reposition it on the canvas, if required.

  6. Select Done. Photoroom adds your resized image to Your Content.

Note: On Android, resized images replace the original image.

  1. Select Your Content and choose the design that you want to resize.

  2. Select Resize.

  3. Select the resize mode:

    1. Smart
To resize the design so that it fits the canvas without having gaps around the edge (as can happen with Fit). Smart mode may change the positioning of some objects to limit cropping.

    2. Fill
To resize the design from the center so that the objects in the design fill the canvas. The design may go outside of the canvas boundaries.

    3. Fit
To resize the design so that the entire design fits on the canvas. This may leave space around the edges of the canvas.

  4. Either select one of the predesigned sizes or select Custom. If you select Custom, you can enter the width and height.

  5. Drag the image to reposition it on the canvas, if required. You can also use the handles to resize the objects manually.

  6. Select Download.
Photoroom downloads the image file in your browser. It also replaces the original image with your resized version in Your Content.
