Make a layer semi-transparent

Learn how to use Opacity to make a layer semi-transparent

One of the benefits of having designs made up of layers is that you can create stylish effects by making layers semi-transparent. You do this by using the Opacity setting.

For example, in Image 1 below, there is a city image on the background but it can't be seen because the blue rectangle layer is not transparent. To solve that, you can use the Opacity setting to make the blue rectangle layer semi-transparent, as shown in Image 2.

To set the Opacity on a layer, open a design in the editor and select the layer you want to edit. In the layer settings, select Adjust and then select Opacity. Use the Opacity slider to increase or decrease the amount of transparency.

Important! On text layers, Adjust > Opacity changes the transparency of the text. Use Text Background > Opacity to change the transparency of the text background.
