Did you know you can use Photoroom to create line art images for coloring books that you can sell online? All you need is the Coloring page feature and your imagination!

Side-by-side images. Image 1 shows a black and white line drawing of a man and woman scuba diving in a coral reef. Image 2 shows a polygon line art drawing of a wolf's head, also in black and white.

Example of Coloring pages created in Photoroom.

On iPhone and iPad

To create a line art coloring page design:

(Video shows Photoroom on iPhone)

  1. Select Content.

  2. Select the workspace you want to work in.

  3. Select AI Tools.

  4. Select Coloring page in the Create images with AI section. You may need to select See <number> more first to reveal the full list of AI Tools.

  5. Enter a prompt to describe the scene you want. Here are some examples:

"A man and a woman scuba diving in a coral reef. No color."
"A polygon drawing of an elephant's head and shoulders. No color."
"An astronaut doing a space walk. No color."

Tip: It's a good idea to include "no color" as it helps to guide the AI to only using black and white in the images.

  6. Use Size to set the dimensions of the image.

Note: You cannot change the Style. This is set to Line art as that is the only style that is appropriate to coloring pages.

  7. Select the arrow button to generate 4 coloring page images.

  8. Either:

    • Select an image that you like to open a preview of it. From there, you can select:

      • Remove background to toggle the background layer on and off

      • Use image to open the image in the main editor (see step 9).

      • Change something to alter the prompt. Photoroom remembers the original prompt for the image, so you only need to describe the change you want.

    • Select the arrow button to generate more images.

    • Change the prompt and then select the arrow button to generate different images.

  9. When you have an image you are happy with, select it and then select Use image. The image opens as a design in the main editor.

  10. [Optional] Use the editor to make changes to the design. You can add text, graphics, and other elements if you wish.

Tip: The line drawing is an AI image on a single layer. To change it, select the layer and then use Describe a change to describe the changes you want. The AI will redraw the layer.

  11. Select Export. Photoroom saves the design and downloads it as an image file to your device. You can also use the export settings to share the image with other people.

  12. Repeat the previous steps to create a collection of image files that you can then compile into a coloring book. You will need to use third-party software or services to compile and format the book. Alternatively, you can print out your image files and use the coloring pages as individual sheets.
