In this article, we show you how to use the Original template on the Web App version of Photoroom. The Original template lets you keep the original background of your photo on its own layer. This gives you more flexibility when editing as you can place other elements, such as text and graphics, between the background and foreground.
To learn about other ways of keeping the original background, see:
Note: If you are using the iOS or Android version of Photoroom, follow the instructions in:
On Web App
To create a design and apply the original template so that it keeps the original background image:
Log in at app.photoroom.com.
Select the Space you want to work in.
Select Create.
Click Select photos and upload the photo you want to use.
Photoroom removes the background automatically and opens your image in a design.
Select Templates.
Select the Original image template in the Classics category.
Note: Single-click next to the Classics title to display the arrow buttons that you can use to scroll through the Classics templates.
Select any part of the gray off-canvas area to display the layers.
You should see that the foreground of your image is on one layer and the background is on another layer.
[Optional] Use the editing features to change the image as required. For example, to add text or shapes or to change the color.
You can add layers and position them between the background and foreground layers if you wish.
To learn about the editing features, see the articles in Features and Tools.
[Optional ] Select Download to download your design as an image file in the browser. Enter a name for the download folder, choose an image file format, and then select Download to confirm.
Select the Home button to save your design and exit the editor.
