Recolor an object in a photo (iOS)

Learn how to use Recolor to change the color of objects in your photos and designs (iOS).

With Photoroom's Recolor feature, you can quickly create color variants of a product photo. Use a color picker to choose a color or enter a specific color value to get the exact color you want.

At the moment, Recolor is designed for single color products. It may also work well for products have white, gray, or black trims. We hope to support more complex color schemes in the future.

On iPhone and iPad

To Recolor a product image:

  1. Select the Space you want to work in.

  2. Select AI Tools.

  3. Select Recolor.

    If you don't see Recolor, select the See more button to reveal the full list. You can select Recolor from there.

  4. Upload a photo.

    You can either:

    1. Upload a photo from your Camera roll.

    2. Take a new photo with your device's Camera.

    3. Select an image from your Files.

    4. Use Generate to create an AI image.

  5. Select the Color option and set a color.

    You can use the color picker to:

    • Select the dropper icon and pick a color that is displayed on screen

    • Select a color from the Grid or Spectrum

    • Use the Sliders to set the color

    • Enter color values as numbers or hex values

    • Pick a color from the swatch. Use + to add colors to the swatch and long-press a color to delete it from the swatch.

  6. Use the Size option to set the size of the design Photoroom will generate (Square, Portrait, Landscape).

  7. [Optional] Enter a description of any changes you want Photoroom to make, for example, "Remove brand logo" or "No seam or creases on pants".

  8. Select the arrow button to generate 2 images using the settings you have chosen.

  9. [Optional] To show a product from a different perspective, select the context menu for a generated image and select Other angles.

  10. [Optional] To make further changes, either:

    • Select the context menu for an image and then Edit with AI. Use the prompt to change the image.

    • Enter the changes you want in the prompt field and then select the arrow button to generate an updated image.

  11. Select the image you want to use.

  12. [Optional] To use the main editor to make further changes to the design, select Open in editor. Photoroom opens the design in the editor and you can use the options to add text, graphics, apply templates and more.

  13. Select Save to store the design and save it to your device's camera roll. You can also share the design.

  14. Select Close design to exit.
