Use Photoroom’s Recolor feature to quickly correct or change colors in your images. It’s ideal for matching brand colors, fixing lighting issues, or creating variations, while preserving texture and detail.

3 images of a woman in a tracksuit. In Image 1 she is wearing a blue tracksuit. In image 2, the tracksuit is recolored to orange. In image 3, the tracksuit is green.

Availability

Recolor requires a paid subscription and uses AI Credits.

Steps (iOS)

We have separated the instructions into different stages, some of which are optional. The video below shows all stages.

Stage 1: Access the Recolor tool

  1. Select the Space you want to work in.

  2. Select AI Tools.

  3. Select Recolor.

If you don't see Recolor, select the See more button for a full list of the AI tools.

Stage 2: Use the Recolor settings

Use the Recolor settings to give Photoroom instructions:

  1. Choose an image to recolor.

You can take a photo and upload it, upload an image file from your device, choose an existing image in your Space, or generate a new AI image.

  2. Use the Color selector to choose your target color. It will replace color(s) in the image.

  3. Use the prompt to give Photoroom further instructions, such as describe which parts to recolor.

  4. Choose a Size.

  5. Select the arrow button to generate.

    Each generation uses AI credits.

Photoroom generates a recolored version based on your settings.

Stage 3: Generate alternatives and provide feedback

This stage is optional.

Select the generated image's context menu and use the options to:

  • Generate alternative images:

    • Use Edit with AI to describe changes in a prompt and generate a new variation.

    • Use Other angles to generate a new image from a different camera angle.

  • Save or Delete the image.

  • Provide feedback (Good result, Bad result).

Stage 4: Edit and save

When you have an image you want to use:

  1. Select the image for a preview.

Tip: Swipe left and right to preview your other recolored images.

  2. [Optional] You can choose to generate a new image using Edit with AI or Other angles. These work in the same way as on the context menu.

You can also select Video to use the Video Generator tool to make a short video clip based on your image.

  3. [Optional] Select Save to download the image.

  4. [Optional] Select Open in editor to open the image in the main editor:

    • Use the editor to add text, graphics, apply templates and more.

To learn about the editing features, see the articles in Features and Tools.

    • Select Save to save your image as a design in Photoroom and to download it to your device. There are also options to share it with others.

  5. Select Close design.
