Duplicate a layer (Web App)

Duplicate a layer to create a copy you can reposition or edit independently. This is a good time-saver when your design already has layers that you can reuse or repurpose.

Before and after. Image 1 has a single background stripe layer. Image 2 has 2 background stripe layers,  one is a duplicate.

This article explains how to create a copy of a layer using the Web App version of Photoroom. If you're using the iOS or Android version, see:


On Web App

To duplicate a layer:

  1. Select the Space you want to work in.

  2. Select Designs.

  3. Select the design you want to edit.

  4. Click on the gray area that surrounds your design's canvas to display the layers stack order.

  5. Select the layer you want to copy.

  6. Select the context menu ( ... ) for the layer and then select Duplicate.
    Photoroom adds another version of the layer to your design.

  7. [Optional] Position and edit the duplicate layer.

  8. [Optional] Use the editor settings to make further changes, such as add text or graphics.

  9. [Optional] Select Download to download your design as an image file. Enter a name for the download file and choose an image format and then select Download to confirm.

  10. Select Home to exit the editor. Photoroom saves your design automatically.
