This article gives an overview of the screens you'll use to manage your product images for a connected store, such as a Shopify store.

Products screen

After connecting Photoroom to your store, you will see the Products screen. This is also known as the Product catalog. You can also access it by selecting Shopify Products in the sidebar.

The Products screen is a hub where you can see all of the products you have in Photoroom. The products can be either:

  • In Photoroom and Shopify

  • In Photoroom, waiting to be added to Shopify.

Products screen showing the range of products in Photoroom that can be synced with your store.

By default, your products are shown in a grid, but you can switch to a list view if you prefer. For each product, Photoroom shows the featured image.

From the Products screen, you can:

Product editor

Double-click a product in the Product catalog to open it in the Product editor. The Product editor is where you can make changes to one or more of the product's images and you can use Photoroom to generate new images too. By default, the Shopify sidebar is shown.

Product editor side menu

In the Product editor, you have a range of common editing features available from the side menu. When you use these options, the changes you make apply to:

  • All of the images you have selected

  • All of the product images (if there are no images selected or if all images are selected).

The side menu includes:

  • Templates
Apply a template to your product images.

  • Resize
Change image size and aspect ratio.

  • Position
    Change the padding and positioning.

  • Background
Remove or replace the background with a color, image, or AI-generated background.

  • AI Shadows
    Apply AI-generated shadow effects.

  • AI tools
Use tools such as AI Fashion Models, Recolor, and Ghost Mannequin to generate new images. When you select an AI tool, its settings load in the sidebar.

  • Add images
Upload new images, use existing designs, or generate AI images.

  • Shopify
Show or hide the Shopify sidebar (described later in this article).

  • Usage
Shows AI credits and export usage for the Space.

Shopify sidebar

The Shopify sidebar helps you prepare and publish your product listing to Shopify. By working through its sections, you can quickly create a complete listing with images, product information, and SEO metadata.

The Shopify sidebar includes:

  • Listing score
Shows how complete your listing is. Completing the suggestions improves your score.

  • AI Shot List
Use to generate suggested product images (for example, front, back, side, model).

  • Title & Description
Create, edit, or generate your product title and description.

  • SEO & Metadata
Create, edit, or generate SEO-friendly file names and alt text for product images.

  • Variants
Add images for product variants (for example, colour or size variants).

Product editor pill menus

Each product image has pill menus that you can use for editing a single image. There is a pill menu for:

  • The overall image tile

  • Each foreground layer on an image.

The pill menus are where you will find editing options that are not available from the side bar. They include options for adding text layers and graphics, adjusting the brightness and highlights, accessing Retouch, cropping a layer, changing the order of layers and much more.

Important: The options in a pill menu are specific for the selected layer or image. For example, for a text layer you get options for text editing, which are different to the pill menu options for a graphics layer.

Right-click context menu

If you right-click on a product image, a context menu appears.

The right-click context menu options include:

  • Copy
Copies the image to your device's clipboard.

  • Paste
Pastes the content of your device's clipboard into the editor.

  • Copy/Paste edits
Use to copy the edits made to one image and then paste them to another image.

  • Duplicate
Creates a copy of the image.

  • Delete
Removes the image from the product. Note that it does not remove the image from Shopify until you publish the update.

  • Create new section
Adds a new section to your Product editor.

  • Select all
    Use to select all images.

  • Save as a template
Use to save your current image as a template.

  • Download
Export the product image as an image file.

Apply to all

When you edit an individual image, the Apply to all option becomes available on the image's pill menu. This option lets you add the same edits to all of the other images for the product.

If you only want to copy the recent edits to some of the product images rather than all of them, use the Copy/Paste edits option on the right-click context menu instead.

To learn more, see How does "Apply to all" work?.

Grid View and Full Screen View

When you open a product in the Product editor, its images are displayed in a grid by default. This is the Grid View and it lets you edit the images while you viewing them all.

Product images shown in Full Screen View

For more focused work, you can switch to Full Screen View by double-clicking on an image or using the view switcher in the toolbar.

In Full Screen View, you get a larger view of one image, which can make editing details easier.

At the bottom there is a thumbnail of the other images for the product. Select one of the thumbnails to show that image in Full Screen View.

Next steps

Now that you understand the Product screens, you can start creating and editing product listings.
