Use Photoroom to create new Shopify product listings, added as drafts so nothing goes live until you’re ready.

With Photoroom, you can:

  • Choose from existing images and designs or upload new ones

  • Edit images directly in Photoroom

  • Automatically generate product titles, descriptions, image filenames, and alt text

  • Publish listings directly to Shopify as drafts

Once in Shopify, you can complete details such as pricing and stock before making your products live.

Steps (Web App)

To create a new Shopify product using Photoroom:

  1. Log in to Photoroom at app.photoroom.com.

  2. Select the Space that's connected to your store.

  3. Select Shopify products.

  4. Select Add product.

  5. Upload the product images you want to use for your new product.

    You can either:

    • Upload product photos
Photoroom adds them to the Assets for the Space

    • Select images from the existing Assets in the Space

    • Select Designs and choose a design saved in the Space

    • Select Generate and create an image with an AI Tool, such as Virtual Model.

The settings for the AI Tools work in the same way as the standalone AI Tools. See the links in the "Related articles" section for more information.

  6. Choose the images you want to use and then select Create product.

    Photoroom:

    • Creates your product in Shopify

    • Automatically generates a product title, description, and SEO metadata. You can review and edit these before publishing.

    • Opens the product images in the Product Catalog Editor.

  7. Use the Product Catalog Editor to make changes to the images.

For example, in the video above, we used the editor to apply a custom template to the images. To learn about the editor features, see the Edit Product Catalog images (Web App) articles.

  8. Select Shopify and then SEO & metadata.

  9. Review the Title & description. To make changes, either:

    • Use the editor to make changes manually

    • Select the Generate link to generate new text for that specific product field.

    • Select Generate all to generate new text for all product fields (title, description, filename, alt text) at once.

  10. Review the SEO & metadata.
Again, use the editor to make changes manually or select the Generate links or Generate all to use AI.

  11. Close the Shopify dialog.

  12. If you have made changes, update your Shopify store by selecting Publish.

Photoroom publishes the product images to Shopify in Draft status.

  13. In Shopify, complete the product listing details, such as pricing and stock.
Once finished, change the status from Draft to Active to make the listing live.

Tip: If you create variants for the product in Shopify, you can use Photoroom to add images for the variants. For details, see Apply an image to a Shopify variant (Web App).
