Use Photoroom's AI to generate an image from scratch, no photo upload required. Just enter a description of the image you want, choose the style and size and the AI will create the image for you.

For example, here we used a prompt to create a flat lay image of wine red denim jeans.

Image shows a prompt with a description of red jeans and an AI-generated image of red jeans next to it.

Steps (Web App)

The video shows how to use a prompt to generate an AI image.

As Create any image supports many features, we have divided the instructions into separate sections, some of which are optional.

Stage 1: Generate an AI image

A prompt describing red jeans and two AI-generated images of red jeans.

  1. Select the Space you want to work in.

  2. Select AI Tools.

  3. Select Create any image.

Note: If you don't see Create any image, select See all to display a list of all AI tools.

  4. Use the settings to configure the image:

    • Prompt
Enter a description of the image you want the AI to generate.

For best results, include any important information, for example: what you want the main object to look like, what sort of background you want, and lighting effects.

    • Style
Choose the type of image you want the AI to create. There are many to choose from, including realistic styles and more artistic styles.

    • Size
Choose the size and orientation of the image.

  5. Select Generate to create images. Each generation uses AI credits.

To generate more images, change the settings and select Generate.

Stage 2: Generate alternate images and video [optional]

4 different AI-generated images of red jeans.

  1. Hover the cursor over an image and then select its context menu ( ... ).

  2. Use the context menu options:

    • Generate variations
Generates more images using the same prompt as the selected image.

    • Change something
Use a prompt to describe the changes you want. Select Change to generate.

    • Generate video
Use to generate a video based on the image.

This uses the Video generator and has the same settings as the standalone Video generator tool.

    • Download
Use to download the image to your device.

    • Delete
Use to remove the image from the Create any image history.

Stage 3: Final edits and save

When you have an image you are happy with:

  1. Select the image.

  2. [Optional] Use the options to make any further changes:

    • Remove background
Use to keep or remove the background.

Tip: Remove the background if you plan to edit or replace the background, or make changes to the subject in the main editor. This separates the background and subject into different layers, making them easier to edit.

    • Change something
Use a prompt to make changes using AI. This will generate a new image.

    • Retouch
Use to remove parts of the image by blending with the background. Only available when the background is included in the image.

To learn more about Retouch, see Remove parts of an image with Retouch (Web App).

    • Edit cutout
Use to remove or restore parts of a layer. Only available when the background has been removed.

To learn more about Edit cutout, see Remove and restore with Edit cutout (Web App)

    • Resize
Use to change the size and orientation of the image.

  3. [Optional] Select Download to download the image to your device.

  4. Select Use this image to open it in the main editor.

Use the main editor to make any further changes, such as add text or graphics.
To learn about the editing features, see the articles in Features and Tools.

  5. Use Download to store the design as an image file on your device. Enter a name, choose the image format and select Download.

  6. Select Home to save your design and exit the editor.

Tip: To use an AI image with a template, export it, then import it as a new design and choose a template. To learn how to import the image as a new design, see Start a new design (Web App).
