Apply an identical AI Background to a batch of images (Web App)

How to use exactly the same AI Background on multiple images in a batch of images (Web App).

When you apply an AI Background to several images, Photoroom reuses the prompt, not the generated image. Each image gets a new background that matches its own lighting and shadows, so the backgrounds can look different. This also happens when you use Apply to all.

To use the exact same AI Background on several images:

  1. Generate an AI Background on one image and download it.

  2. Use Retouch to remove the foreground object.

  3. Upload the result as an image background for the other images in your batch.

Steps

To apply the same background to many images, complete the steps below (divided into stages):

Stage 1 - Create a batch and generate an AI Background

First, create a batch of images and generate an AI Background for one of the images:

  1. Select a batch image that you want to have an AI Background.

  2. Select Background.

  3. Turn Remove original backgrounds on.

  4. Select AI.

  5. Use the prompt, model, and background settings to define the AI Background you want.
The Preview gives you an idea of how the background will look.

  6. When you have a background you are happy with, select Apply to image.

  7. Right-click on the image with the AI Background and select Download.

  8. Select Home to exit the batch.

Stage 2 - Use Retouch to create a static background image

Now that you have a file with the background you want, the next stage is to remove the foreground object:

  1. Select Home.

  2. Select See all tools.

  3. Select Retouch.

  4. Upload the image you downloaded from your batch.

  5. In Retouch, set the brush size and paint over the foreground object that you want to remove.

Tip: You might need to paint over the area, including shadows and reflections, several times to completely remove the foreground object.

  6. When you have a background you are happy to use on other images, select Confirm.

  7. Download the image and give it a suitable name.

  8. Select Home to exit.

Stage 3 - Apply the static image to your batch of images

Now that you have your background saved as a static image, you can add it to other images in your batch:

  1. Either:

    • Select Batch and create your batch again.

    • Select Batch and reopen your batch from Recent batches.

  2. Select the batch images that you want to apply the background image to.

  3. Select Background.

  4. Select Image.

  5. Select Choose an image and upload the image file you created in Retouch.

  6. [Optional] Use the Adjust, Blur, and Filter options in the Background sidebar to change the appearance of the background.

  7. [Optional] Use AI Shadows to apply realistic shadows to the images.

  8. [Optional] Use the Batch editor to apply further changes, such as adding text or graphics.
