In your Preferences, you can choose which image file type Photorooom will use, by default, when you export. The options are .png, .jpg, .webp.

When you export a design, you can either:

  • Export using the default file type, which is set in your Preferences

  • Choose a different file type, just for that specific export.

Note: You should set your Preferences on each device on which you use Photoroom. If you are a team admin, each of your team members should set their preferences on their devices too. Preferences are not shared across your devices or shared across team workspaces.

On iPhone and iPad

If you are using Photoroom on an iPhone or iPad, you can set the file format in your Preferences. Your choice of file format is then used as the default for all designs.

  1. Select Content.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Choose from:

    • Best for image
Photoroom will export images with transparency as .png, but will save other images as .jpg.

    • Always export in .png

    • Always export in .jpg

  4. Select Back.

Note: The .png format is best for designs with transparency. The .jpeg and .webp formats are better for keeping the file size small, but may be lower quality.

When you export a design, Photoroom will use your chosen file format as the default. You can choose a different file format for each individual export if you wish (see Export a design). The file format you choose in Preferences is just the default.
