Prefer to use your own background image for your designs? No problem! You can upload an image file and use it as a background.
If you need to use the same image as the background on many designs, you can add it to a template. You can then apply the template to individual designs or a batch of images (see Use your own image as a background on a template).
In this article, we show you how to create a new design that uses an image file as a background. If you want to use your image on an existing design, you can replace the existing background with your image. For details, see Replace a background.
On iPhone and iPad
To use your own image as a background:
Select the Space you want to work in.
Select Start from Photo.
Upload the image you want to use as the foreground image.
Select a template that has a single background layer, for example, the Transparent template.
Select Backgrounds.
Select Image.
Upload your background image.
Select Done to close the background layer.
[Optional] Use the editor to make further changes, such as add text or graphics.
[Optional] Select Export to save your design and download it as an image file. You can also use the export settings to share the design.
Select Close design (or select X) to save your design and exit the editor.
You can find your design in your Space's Designs.
On Android
To use your own background image:
Select the Space you want to work in.
Select Start from Photo.
Upload the image you want to use as the foreground image.
Select a template that has a single background layer, for example, the Studio shot template.
Select Backgrounds.
Select Image.
Upload your background image.
[Optional] Use the editor to make further changes, such as add text or graphics.
[Optional] Select Export to save your design and download it as an image file. You can also use the export settings to share the design.
Select Done (or select the back arrow) to save your design and exit the editor.
You can find your design in your Space's Designs.
On Web App
To use your own background image:
Log in at app.photoroom.com.
Select the Space you want to work in.
Select Create.
Click on Select photos and upload the foreground image you want to use.
Select Backgrounds.
Select Image.
Select the Select an image link in the Replace box.
Upload the background image you want to use.
[Optional] Use the editor to make further changes, such as add text or graphics.
[Optional] Select Download to download your design as an image file. Enter a name and select a file type, then select Download to confirm.
Select Home to save your design and exit the editor.
You can find your design in your Space's Designs.
