Photoroom includes a variety of pre-made templates that you can use, such as templates for social media sites and templates for special events. But you can also create your own custom templates too.

By creating your own template, you can create a background and foreground layers that you can apply to other designs. This can save you a lot of time when you are making new designs. For example, you could create a template for a winter sale and apply it to designs for different products.

  2. A design that uses the custom template.

  3. A different design that uses the same custom template.

To create a custom template, you first need to create a design. You can use the Turn into template option to convert the design into a template. For instructions, see the sections below.

On iPhone and iPad

To create a template on an iPhone or iPad:

(Video shows Photoroom on iPhone)

  1. On the Create page, select Start from Photo. Choose to import a photo that is typical of the images you would use with a template. For example, if you are going to make a "Sale" template for a store, choose a photo of one of your products.

Alternatively, you could choose to work with one of your existing designs from the Your Content page.

  2. If you imported a new image, choose a template for the background, for example, the White template. Select Use this template to confirm.

  3. Edit your design.

    Use:

    1. Layers to move an object behind or in front of another layer. Press and hold the layer name and then drag it up or down in the list. You can also select a layer to access the editing settings for the object on that layer. For more details, see the Layers articles.

    2. Insert to add extra images and shapes to your design. You can choose from the library, your brand kit, camera roll, files, or you can generate a new image with AI. Whatever you insert will appear on a new layer.

    3. Text to add words to your design.

    4. Resize to change the canvas size of your design.

    5. Backgrounds to change the background.

    6. Shadows to apply shading effects.

  4. When you are happy with your design, select the main foreground object(s) from your imported photo and then select the trash icon above it. This deletes the object.

The foreground product is selected revealing a dialog. An arrow points to the trash icon on the dialog.

  5. Select Export. Use the export options to save your design and then select Done.

  6. In the Your Designs section (of the Your Content page), find your new design and select its dotted menu ( ... ).
