If you regularly use the AI Backgrounds feature and want your images to be the same size, you can save time by setting your preferred sizes. Then, when you use AI Backgrounds, it will use your preferred sizes as the default.

AI Backgrounds Preferences settings on Android. There are options for object size, size, and AI backgrounds version.

You can set a default size for:

  • The canvas area (the size of the AI Background and your image)

  • The amount of space the main object of the image uses. This is a percentage of the available space.

You can also choose which version of the AI model Photoroom should use for generating AI Backgrounds.

The AI Background preferences for size are currently only available on the mobile versions of Photoroom (iPhone, iPad, Android).

On iPhone and iPad

To set the default object size and default canvas size for AI Backgrounds:

(Video shows Photoroom on iPhone)

  1. On the Create page, select AI Backgrounds. If you can't see the AI Backgrounds option, select the All tools link and then select AI Backgrounds.

  2. Select either:

    • Camera roll and then choose a photo to upload

    • Camera and then take a photo with your device

    • Files to upload an image file from your device.

When Photoroom has removed the background of your image, it presents you with some Suggested AI Backgrounds.

  3. Select the cog icon in the top corner to display the Preferences for AI Backgrounds.

  4. Use the Default object size to set the size of the object layer. The size is a percentage of the canvas size for the design.

  5. Select Format.

  6. Select your preferred canvas size from the scrollable list at the bottom. There are options for many different dimensions, including square, different portrait and landscape sizes, and sizes for social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.

  7. Select Done.

  8. [Optional] Select the cog icon again and select AI Backgrounds version. Then choose the version of the AI model that you want to use. Typically, the later versions provide better results, but are slower to generate images. For example, v4 produces higher quality images than v3, but is also slower.

Select Back when you have chosen a model and then close the Preferences.

  9. Select Back and then Create to return to the Create page.

You have now set your Preferences for AI Backgrounds on your device. Whenever you use the AI Backgrounds feature on that device, Photoroom will use your Preferences as the default.

If you need a different size, you can resize the layers and canvas manually for each individual design. Alternatively, you can change your Preferences.
