You can open your custom templates in the editor and make changes to them, if needed. Whether it is adding text, changing colors or generating different AI images for the template, you can do it all in the editor.

Note: You can only make changes to custom templates (templates that have been created by you or your teammates). You can't make changes to the templates supplied by Photoroom. However, you could apply a Photoroom template to a design and then turn that design into a custom template.

On iPhone and iPad

To open an existing template in the Photoroom editor:

(Video shows Photoroom on iPhone)

  1. Select Content.

  2. Select the workspace that contains the template you want to edit.

  3. Select Templates.

  4. Select the template you want to edit.

  5. Select Edit the original template.

  6. Use the editor features to make changes to your template.

The editor features work in the same way as they do for editing a design. There are settings for each layer, and you can add text, images, and other content. You can also change the backgrounds, shadows, and resize the template too.

To learn about editing, see the Basic editing articles. For more advanced features like the AI tools, see the AI features and tools articles.

  7. To choose which layer of the template should be replaced with the main subject in a photo:

    1. Select the layer on the template.

    2. Use Replaceable Subject to choose which layer will be swapped out for the main subject of an imported image.

When you apply the template to an image (or batch of images), Photoroom will insert the main object in the image in place of any Replaceable Subject layers. For example, in the template shown below (1), the bottle layer will be replaced by the main subject from an imported photo, in this case, a perfume bottle (2).

Side-by-side images. Image 1 shows a template with 1 layer set as a replaceable subject. Image 1 shows a design based on the template. In the design, the replaceable subject layer has been swapped for an image of a bottle from an imported photo.

  8. Select X to save the template and close the editor.
