Photoroom has a weekly export limit—but what actually counts as an export? In this guide, we’ll break down how exports are counted, especially when AI features are involved, so you know exactly what to expect.

What is an export?

An export happens when a design leaves Photoroom as an image file. This includes:

  • Saving the image to your device (e.g. via autosave, export a design, save a logo)

  • Sharing the image file to another app (e.g. messaging or social media)

These actions do not count as exports:

  • Saving a design within Photoroom

  • Sharing a link to a design

In both cases, the image remains inside Photoroom and is not turned into a downloadable file.

Photoroom sets a limit on how many designs you can export each week (see Export limits). The limits vary depending on your plan and also whether the designs you export use AI features.

Exports that use AI features

Designs that use AI-powered features count toward your "exports with AI features" limit (see Export limits). These features include:

  1. AI Images (including logos, stickers, coloring pages)

  2. AI image transformation tools (like Virtual model, Product beautifier, Product staging)

How they are counted:

  • Web App: Each download or share counts as 1 export.

  • iOS and Android: Opening the export screen counts as 1 export (autosave). You can export or share multiple times from that screen without using more exports. Leaving and re-entering the export screen will count as a new export.

Exports that do not use AI features

If you are on the Pro or Max plan, you have unlimited* exports of designs that do not use AI features.

  • Pro or Max plan: You get unlimited* exports for designs that don’t use AI features.

  • Free plan: Exports count toward your weekly export limit. It counts as an export when you:

    • Autosave a design to your device as an image file

    • Share the image file using another app

*Fair use limits apply.
