Do you want to reuse an AI background from one design in other images? This guide will show you how to turn that design into a reusable template you can apply to any photo.
In the image above, the design with the black replaceable object is the template. It can be applied to many other designs.
Be aware that using a template with an AI background creates designs that have similar, but not identical, AI backgrounds. The AI fine-tunes the background to suit each foreground object in each image. So you get a series of images that look like part of the same photoshoot, but are each slightly different.

On iPhone
To use a template to reuse an AI background on many designs:
Select Content.
Select the workspace you want to work in.
Either:
Select an existing design that has an AI background that you want to reuse in other designs.
Create a new design by selecting New design, uploading a photo, and using the AI Backgrounds feature to give the design a background. For more details, see Create your own AI backgrounds and Add a suggested AI background to your design.
When you have a design with an AI background, find it in your Team Designs and then select its context menu ( ... ).
Select Turn into template.
Select the Templates folder.
Select your new template and then select Edit the original template.
Select the foreground layer and turn on Replaceable subject. This makes the foreground layer replaceable with the foreground layer of any photo you import.
Select X to save the template and exit the editor and then select Back to return to the workspace.
For each photo that you want to reuse the AI background:
Select New design.
Select the photo you want to upload.
Let Photoroom remove the photo's background and then select your template.
[Optional] Use the editor settings to make further changes, such as add text or graphics.
Select Export to download your design as an image file. You can also share your design with other people.
Select X to close.
Tip: If you have a high number of images that need to use a similar AI background, consider creating a template and applying it in Batch Mode (see Apply a template to multiple images in Batch Mode).
On Android
To use a template to reuse an AI background on many designs:

On Web App
To use a template to reuse an AI background on many designs:
Log in at app.photoroom.com.
Select the workspace you want to work in.
Either:
Select an existing design that has an AI background that you want to reuse in other designs.
Create a new design by selecting Create new and then upload a photo. Select Backgrounds and then use AI Backgrounds to give the design a background. Select Home to save your design.

On the Create page, select Designs.
Position the cursor over the design that has the AI background you want to reuse.
Select Turn into template.
Give the template a meaningful name and select Create template.
Position the cursor over the template and select Edit template.
Select the foreground layer and turn on Replaceable subject. This makes the foreground layer replaceable with the foreground layer of any photo you import.
Select Home to exit the editor and save your template.
For each photo you want to add:
On the Create page, select Select photos and upload a new photo.
Select Templates and then select the template you created.
[Optional] Use the editor settings to make further changes, such as add text or graphics.
[Optional] Select Download to download your design as an image file. Enter a filename for the file, select the file type, and then select Download.
Select Home to save your design and exit the editor.
