When you create a Batch of images, Photoroom automatically removes the background from the photos. But you can choose to keep the original backgrounds if you prefer. In this article, we'll show you how to do it.

Availability
Batch is available on paid subscriptions (Pro, Max, Ultra).
On iPhone and iPad
To restore the original background to some or all images in a batch:
Select the Space you want to work in.
Create a batch:
Select Batch.
Select Start Batch.
Select the photos you want in your batch and then select the check mark or Add images.
Photoroom imports the images and removes their backgrounds.
[Optional] This step only applies if you want to restore the backgrounds on all of the images in the batch.
Select the Original image template to restore the original backgrounds of all of the images in the batch. You can find it on the Template tab.
[Optional] This step only applies if you only want to restore the original background for some of the images in the batch.
Select an individual image to open it in the editor.
Select Layers.
Select the background layer.
If you want a single color background, select the color from the chart or your Brand Kit.
If you want an AI background, select Change background and then AI Backgrounds.
Describe the background you want in the prompt field or select + Background and choose from the list. When you have a background you are happy with, select it.
Select X to exit the editor.
Wait for the Apply to all dialog to close automatically. Do not select Apply to all as that will give all of your images the same background.
Use the other settings to make changes to some or all of the batch images.

Select Export images to download your batch images.
You can now use the exported images in other applications.
Note: Batch is designed for exporting images. It does not save the images as designs in Photoroom. If you need them as designs, import them individually as new images (see Save Batch images to a Space).
On Android
To restore the original background to some or all images in a batch:
Select the Space you want to work in.
Create a batch:
Select Batch.
Select Start Batch.

Select Layers.
Select the background layer.

Select Export images to download your batch images.
You can now use the exported images in other applications.

On Web App
On the Web App version of Photoroom, you select which batch images you want to keep their original background. This means you have more control and can keep the original background for all images, one image, or a selection of images.
Log in at app.photoroom.com.
Select the Space you want to work in.
Select Batch.
Either:
Select Import images and select individual image files to upload.
Select Import folder and select a folder of image files to upload.
Select Upload.
Photoroom adds the images to your batch and removes their backgrounds automatically.
Select the images that should keep their original backgrounds. Press Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) and select the images you want.

Select Background.
Turn Remove original backgrounds off.
Photoroom restores the original backgrounds of the selected images in the batch. Any unselected images will not have their original backgrounds restored.
Use the other settings to make changes to some or all of the batch images.

Select Download images. Enter a name for the download folder and choose an image file format (JPEG, PNG, WEBP, or Auto to let Photoroom choose the best format based on what is in your images). Select Download.
You can now use the exported images in other applications.
Note: Batch is designed for exporting images. It does not save the images as designs in Photoroom. If you need them as designs, import them individually as new images (see Save Batch images to a Space).
