Use Ironing to remove wrinkles from clothing photos (Web App)

Learn how to use the Ironing feature to turn a photo of creased clothing into a smoother, more professional image suitable for product listings. Web App.

Use Ironing to remove wrinkles from clothing photos and create clean, professional product images. Just upload images of wrinkled garments and let Photoroom automatically smooth out creases while keeping results realistic.

Before and after. Before shows a creased and wrinkled sweatshirt. After shows the sweatshirt with very few creases as if it has been ironed.

Requires paid subscription.

Each image generation uses AI Credits.


Steps (Web App)

To use Ironing on the Web App version of Photoroom:

(Video is edited to reduce AI image generation time.)

As Ironing includes several optional features, the instructions below are split into stages.


Stage 1: Access the Ironing tool

To access the Ironing tool:

  1. Select the Space you want to work in.

  2. Select AI Tools.

  3. Select Ironing.

    If you don't see the Ironing option, select See all for a full list of tools.


Stage 2: Use the Ironing settings

Use the sidebar settings to configure your image:

  1. Use the Drop a file or select an image box to upload a photo.

  2. Select Generate to create an "ironed" image.

    Each generation uses AI credits.


Stage 3: Generate variations and further edits [optional]

Now that you have an Ironing image, you can use its context menu to access further features, including the ability to generate variations:

  1. Position the cursor over an image and select its context menu ( ... ).

  2. Use these options to generate additional images or video:

    • Change something
      Describe changes in a prompt and Photoroom will then generate a new image with your changes applied.

    • Other angles
      Use to generate another version of the image. This could be from a different angle or could be another type of product image.

    • Generate video
      Use to create a short video based on your image. It opens the Video Generator tool.

  3. Select Delete to remove the image from the history.

  4. Select Download to download the image as a file.

  5. Select Copy link to copy the URL for the image to your clipboard for sharing. See Share a preview of AI-generated images and videos (Web App).

  6. Use Good result and Bad result to provide feedback on the quality of the AI generations.

Tip: Looking to edit multiple images at once? Check the boxes for each image and then select Edit in Batch in the toolbar at the bottom.


Stage 4: Finalize and save

When you have an image you are happy with, select it and follow the steps below:

Finalize settings for Ironing. There are options to remove background, fix the product, generate video and more.

  1. [Optional] Use the arrow buttons next to the image to choose one of your other Ironing images.

  2. [Optional] Use the settings to make any final changes:

    • Remove background
      Use to keep or remove the background.

      Tip: Remove the background if you plan to edit or replace the background, or make changes to the subject in the main editor. This separates the background and subject into different layers, making them easier to edit.

    • Fix product
      Use to fix any parts of the image that the AI has generated inaccurately, such as product logos and other details. See Fix AI-generated images with Fix product (Web App).

    • Generate video
      Another chance to use the Video Generator to create a short video based on your image. It opens the Video Generator tool.

    • Edit cutout
      Use to remove or restore parts of a layer. Only available when the background has been removed. See Remove and restore with Edit cutout (Web App)

    • ... More actions and then Retouch
      Use to remove parts of the image by blending with the background. Only available when the background is included in the image. See Remove parts of an image with Retouch (Web App).

    • ... More actions and then Resize
      Use to change the size and orientation of the image.

  3. [Optional] Select Download to download the image file.

  4. Select Use this image to open your design in the editor.​

  5. Use the editing features to make additional changes, such as add text, shapes, and other design elements.

  6. When you have finished editing, select Download to download the design.

  7. Select Home to save your design and exit the editor.

You can now use your downloaded file in other applications. Your design is also available in the Space's Designs in Photoroom.

Tip: To use your Ironing design with a template, download the design as an image file. Then import the image file as a new design and choose a template.
