Use Replace to swap a layer for a different image. The new image is added as a layer and the original layer is removed. For example, in the image below, we replaced the clothing model with a different model (we also altered the background color).
Note: If you replace the same layers regularly, consider creating a template instead (see Templates).
In this article, we explain how to replace a layer on the iOS version of Photoroom. If you're using the Android or Web App version, see:
On iPhone and iPad
To replace a layer:
Select the Space you want to work in.
Select Content.
Select the design you want to edit.
Select Layers.
Select the layer you want to replace.
Select Replace.
Choose a replacement image. Either:
Upload a photo from your Camera roll or Files
Take a new photo with your device's Camera
Use Generate to create an image using AI.
Select an image from one of the categories, such as Brand cutouts, Shapes, Graphics.
Wait for Photoroom to remove the background automatically (recommended).
Use the skip background removal option if you want to include the background on the layer.
[Optional] Use the editor to make further changes, such as edit the replacement layer or add text, graphics, and other elements.
Select Save to store your design in Photoroom and download it as an image file to your device. There are also options to share your design with others.
Select Close design.
