In this article, we'll show you how to upload a photo and replace its background with a clean white backdrop, perfect for product photos.

On iPhone and iPad
To replace the original background with a white background:

Select the Space you want to work in.
Select Start from photo and choose a photo to import.
Wait for Photoroom to remove the background of your image automatically.
Do not select Skip background removal.
Select the white template in the Classics collection.
Photoroom opens your design in the editor.
[Optional] If the background removal is not as precise as you need, use the Cutout feature to edit it.
For instructions, see Add and remove parts of an image with Edit Cutout.
[Optional] Select the foreground object in your image and move it to the position you want. When you select the object, its layer settings are shown.
[Optional] Use the editor to make further changes, such as add text, shadows, graphics, and more.

Select Export.
Photoroom saves your design and exports it as a photo to your device's camera roll.[Optional] Use the export settings to share the design.

On Android

On Web App
To apply a white background to a design on the web app (desktop) version of Photoroom:
Log in to the web app at app.photoroom.com.
Select the Space you want to work in.
Select Create in the sidebar.
Click on Select photos and choose a photo to import.
Photoroom imports your photo and automatically removes the background.
Select Templates and then select White from the Classics category.
[Optional] If the foreground image is not exactly how you want it, use the Edit Cutout feature to edit it.

[Optional] Select the foreground object in your image and move it to the position you want. When you select the object, its layer settings are shown.
[Optional] Select the foreground object and use the layer settings to edit the foreground object. For example, turn the Shadow feature on to add a shadow and then use the settings to style the shadow.
[Optional] Select Download. Enter a name for the download folder and choose the file type (or set it to AUTO to let Photoroom choose an appropriate type). Select Download to complete.
Select Home to save your design and exit the editor.
