On the iPhone and iPad versions of Photoroom, you can make changes to an existing AI image by using Describe a change. This is useful when you have an AI image that is close to what you need, and you can make it perfect by making some minor alterations.

For example, in the images below, we have used Describe a change to turn an AI-generated image of a red sofa into a blue sofa instead.

A red sofa AI image with a change prompt asking it to be a blue sofa. Next to it is the updated version, where the sofa is blue.

Note: You can only use Describe a change to alter an existing AI image on the iPhone and iPad version of Photoroom. This feature is unavailable on Android and the Web App. But the Web App does let you create a new AI image based on an AI image from your history (see Create a new AI image from a previous prompt).

On iPhone and iPad

To use Describe a change on the iPhone and iPad versions of Photoroom:

(Video shows Photoroom on iPhone)

  1. Select Your content.

  2. Select the design that you want to change to open it in the editor.

  3. Select the layer that contains the AI-generated image.

  4. Select Describe a change.

  5. In the prompt field, enter a description of the changes you want to make.

Note: Photoroom is already going to use the same prompt that was used to create the AI Image, so you don't need to include that. You only need to describe the changes you want the AI to make.

For example, in the video, we told the prompt to change the color of the sofa.

  6. Use:

    • Remove background to keep the background or remove the background

    • Describe a change to make further changes.

  7. Select Use image to use the changed image.

  8. This step only applies if you chose to remove the background. Choose a template so that the image has a background layer.

  9. Use the editor to make changes in the same way as any other design, for example, you could insert graphics or add text.

To learn about editing images, see the editing articles.

  10. Select Export. Use the export settings to save and share your design.

  11. Select Done.
