How to use AI to generate an image from scratch with Photoroom's Create any image tool.

Written by Craig Wright

The Create any image tool lets you generate an image from scratch using a text prompt. This article gives an overview of the tool and explains its settings.

How it works:

  1. You enter a description of the image you want.

  2. You choose the style and size.

  3. Photoroom generates an image based on your prompt and choices.

  4. You can then use the generated image as is or you can open it in the main editor to make further changes. You can also generate variations, if needed.

For step-by-step instructions, see Workflows in Related content (below).

How to access Create any image

Create any image is available as a standalone tool from the AI tools menu.

Settings for Create any image

When you access the Create any image tool, use the following settings to guide Photoroom.

  • Prompt

  • Style

  • Size (aspect ratio)

Prompt

Use the prompt to describe the image you want Photoroom to generate. For best results, be as specific as possible.

For tips on writing prompts that produce better results, see Write more effective prompts for AI.

Style

The Style setting tells Photoroom what creative style to use when generating your image. There are many different styles to choose from, ranging from hyper-realistic renderings for lifelike images to more artistic styles such as Impressionist Painting. Experiment with the styles to see what works best for you.

  • Random
No fixed look. Photoroom's AI picks freely from the styles, so results vary each time.

  • Hyper-Realistic Rendering
A sharp image with lifelike detail, like a professional photo.

  • Impressionist Painting
Soft, painterly brushstrokes with visible texture.

  • Low Poly 3D
A geometric 3D look built from simple polygon shapes.

  • Isometric View
A flat, angled 3D perspective with no vanishing point, like a game asset or diagram.

  • Futuristic Cyberpunk
    Neon-lit, high-tech, dark urban mood.

  • Baroque Ornate
Rich, dramatic, heavily decorative, in the style of classical Baroque art.

  • Abstract Expressionism
Bold, expressive shapes and colour, not meant to look realistic.

  • Photorealistic CGI
Polished, enhanced imagery designed to look real.

  • Surrealist Dreamscape
Dreamlike, imaginative scenes that bend reality.

Aspect ratio

This is sometimes labeled as Size. Use it to set the aspect ratio (shape) of the image, see Set the Aspect Ratio of AI images.

After generating an image

When you have generated an image you are happy with, you can:

  • Use the image's context menu options to make further changes or download the image.

  • Select the image to review and edit it further.

  • Use the Batch editor to make further changes (Batch editor only)

  • Use the Product catalog editor to make further changes and publish (Photoroom for Shopify only).

The context menu settings are common to most AI tools. You can learn about them in Context menu options for AI tools.

The review and edit options are common to most standalone AI tools and you can learn about them in Review and edit an AI image.
