(Video is edited to show faster AI-generation time)
As there are many features you can use with Virtual Model, we have split the instructions into stages.
Stage 1: Upload clothing photo(s)
The first step is to upload your clothing photos to the Virtual Model feature.
Select the Space you want to work in.
Select AI tools.
Select Virtual Model.
If you can't see the Virtual Model option, select the See more button to see a full list of the AI tools.
Select a clothing photo to upload.
[Optional] Select the + icon and upload another clothing photo. By uploading multiple clothing photos, you can show an entire outfit on a Virtual Model.
Stage 2: Use the Virtual Model settings
Use the settings to configure your image. To get access to the options, swipe the options bar at the bottom.
Model
Choose a model from the pre-made list or select Custom to upload your own.
Quality
Choose the image resolution:
Standard
1k resolution, requires Pro subscription, consumes less AI credits.
Advanced
2k resolution, requires Max subscription, consumes more AI credits.
Premium
4k+ resolution, requires Ultra subscription, consumes most AI credits.
Background
Choose a background theme from the list or select Custom to upload your own.
Pose
Choose a pose for the model from the list.
Size
Choose the size and orientation for the image.
Brand
Choose whether your Brand description (set in the Brand Kit) should influence the AI when it generates your images.
Note: If you make changes to the description here, they also apply in the brand kit and will affect the entire Space.
Prompt (describe anything field)
Enter any other information for the AI, for example, "show top half of model, focus on t-shirt. Promotional image for t-shirt."
When you have made your choices:
Select the arrow button to create an image. Each generation uses AI credits.
[Optional] Create alternative images by changing the Virtual Model settings and then selecting the arrow button.
Stage 3: Generate alternate images [optional]
Select the context menu for a generated Virtual Model image.
Use the context menu options to make changes:
Edit with AI
Use to make changes with a prompt. Photoroom will generate a new image based on the new prompt.
Other angles
Photoroom generates more images that use the same model and background, but shown from different angles and in different poses.
Tip: Use the Save option in the context menu to save a generated image to your device. You can upload that image as a new design for editing later.
Stage 4: Final edits and save
When you have an image you are happy with:
Select the image.
[Optional] Use the settings to make further changes:
Video
Use to generate a short video clip based on the image. This uses the Video Generator tool and has the same features.
Other angles
Use to generate another image from a different viewpoint.
Edit with AI
Use a prompt to describe changes and then generate a new image.
[Optional] Select Save to store the current version of the image to your device.
Select Open in editor.
Photoroom begins to remove the background automatically. To keep it, select Skip background removal.
Tip: Remove the background if you plan to edit or replace the background, or make changes to the subject in the main editor. This separates the background and subject into different layers, making them easier to edit.
Use the main editor features to make any further changes, such as adding text and graphics.
To learn about the editing features, see the articles in Features and Tools.
Select Save to store your design on your device.
Select Close design to exit. Your design is saved in the Space.
You can now use your downloaded file in other applications. Your design is available in the Space's Content in Photoroom.
Tip: To use an AI image with a template, export it, then import it as a new design and choose a template. To learn how to import the image as a new design, see Start a new design (iOS).
