There are several ways to change the color of part of a layer in Photoroom. You can use AI tools such as Edit with AI or Recolor, or you can edit the image manually. AI tools are faster and are especially useful for creating product image variants without taking new photos.

Use Edit with AI to change the color of part of a layer (Android)
Edit with AI makes it quick and easy to change the color of part of a layer. You describe the changes you want in a prompt and Photoroom will generate the image for you.
Note: Edit with AI is also called Describe a change on the Web App.
To change color using Edit with AI:

Log in at app.photoroom.com.
Select the Space that contains the design you want to edit.
In Designs, select the design to open it in the editor.
Select the layer that contains the part you want to recolor.
Enter a prompt describing:
Which parts of the image to change
The new color
Example: Change the red vest to a yellow vest.
Select the arrow button to generate the result.
Repeat the prompt step to refine the color or shade (for example, specify "shocking pink" instead of "pink").
[Optional] Make additional edits using the editor tools, for example, add text or graphics.
[Optional] Select Download to save the design as an image file on your device. Enter a name for the download file, choose the image file format, and select Download.
Select Home. Photoroom saves your design automatically when you exit the editor.

Manually change the color of part of a layer (Web App)
If you prefer not to use AI, you can duplicate the layer, recolor part of it, and place it over the original.
Log in at app.photoroom.com.
Select the Space that contains the design you want to edit.
In Designs, select the design to open it in the editor.
Select the layer that contains the part you want to recolor.
Select the context menu for the layer ( ... ) and then select Duplicate to create a copy.
Edit the copy so that it only contains the part you want to recolor. Either:
Select the copy and then use the box handles to crop the layer.
Select the copy and then use Edit Cutout to Erase all of the areas except for the part you are going to recolor. Select the checkmark to exit.
Select Adjust for the copy layer and use Hue to change the color. You can use the other Adjust settings to fine-tune the image too.
Position the copy layer over the original layer.
Select the original layer and use Crop or Edit Cutout to remove the area that is recolored on the copy layer.
[Optional] Make additional edits using the editor tools, for example, add text or graphics.
[Optional] Select Download to save the design as an image file on your device. Enter a name for the download file, choose the image file format, and select Download.
Select Home. Photoroom saves your design automatically when you exit the editor.
