In this article, we explain how to change the background of Product Catalog images using Photoroom on iOS. For the background, you can choose:
A single color
An image that you upload
An AI-generated image.
The background you choose will apply to all of the images for the selected product.
Note: This article assumes you have already connected Photoroom to your Shopify store.
Steps: AI Backgrounds (iOS)
Automatically generate backgrounds that complement your product’s colors and lighting.
Select any of the product images.
Photoroom opens all of the product's images in the Product Catalog Editor.
Select Background.
Select Remove original background.
Select Background.
Select AI.
Choose an AI model:
Studio HD - newest, highest quality model, often best results but takes longer to generate. Uses more AI credits.
Studio - high quality model. Uses more AI credits.
v3/v2 - older models that are faster and ideal for everyday backgrounds. Use fewer AI credits than Studio models.
Either:
Enter a description in the prompt field.
Select Background and:
Pick a theme from the available categories.
Search for an image on Unsplash (v3 and v2 only).
Select Custom and upload your own image to use as inspiration.
Select the arrow button to generate. Generating AI Backgrounds uses AI credits.
[Optional] Change the prompt or Background settings and generate more images. Each generation uses AI credits.
Choose a result and select Apply to batch.
Photoroom applies the background to all of the images for the product listing.[Optional] Make additional changes using the Product Catalog Editor.
When you have finished editing, publish your changes to Shopify.
Steps: Color backgrounds (iOS)
Use a single color background for clean, minimalist product images that highlight your product and maintain brand consistency.
Select any of the product images.
Photoroom opens all of the product's images in the Product Catalog Editor.
Select Background.
Select Remove original background.
Select Background.
Either:
Select transparent, white, or black from the palette
Select + to choose a different color.
This step only applies if you selected + to choose a different color.
Either:Select a color from the palettes
Select the color wheel and use it to choose a color from the Grid, Spectrum, or Sliders tab.
[Optional] Make additional changes using the Product Catalog Editor.
When you have finished editing, publish your changes to Shopify.

Steps: Image backgrounds (iOS)
Replace the background with a custom or stock image to create lifestyle or studio scenes.
Select any of the product images.
Photoroom opens all of the product's images in the Product Catalog Editor.
Select Background.
Select Remove original background.
Select Background.
Select Image.
Either:
Upload your own image (Camera roll, Files).
Select Camera and use your device to take a photo.
Select from categories such as Studio, Wood, or Marble.
Search for images on Unsplash or Pixabay.
[Optional] Make additional changes using the Product Catalog Editor.
When you have finished editing, publish your changes to Shopify.
