Photoroom for Shopify includes AI tools that you can use to generate images to add to your product listings. You can use the AI tools directly in your product catalog; it's all part of the same experience.

In this article, we explain the workflow for:

  • Using AI tools in your product catalog

  • Adding AI-generated images to your Shopify listings.

Before you start

The AI tools in your product catalog work in a similar way to the standalone AI tools in Photoroom. They have the same settings and produce the same type of results. The only differences are that you will:

  • Use the AI tool inside Photoroom for Shopify.

  • Use your product catalog images as the starting point, rather than upload a new image.

  • Apply the AI-generated image to your Shopify listing directly.

We recommend you read the help center articles for each AI tool. We have included a list in the Related content section at the end of this article.

Steps (Web App)

To generate a product image using AI tools:

(Video is edited to reduce AI-generation times).

  1. Select AI tools.

  2. Select the AI tool you want to use.

  3. Select the product image you want to use as the starting point for the AI tool.

  4. Use the settings to specify what you want in your image.

The settings vary depending on which AI tool you use. They work in the same way as the AI tools in the main editor.

  5. Select Generate.

  6. [Optional] Use the generated image's context menu to:

    • Edit the image using an AI prompt. This will generate a new image.

    • Use the image as the source image for another AI tool.

    • Open the image in the main editor, where you can make changes that are not available in Photoroom for Shopify, such as adding text and graphics.

    • Duplicate the image.

    • Delete the image.

    • Save the image as a template.

    • Download the image.

When you have finished editing, add SEO filenames and alt text. Then publish the updates to Shopify to update your store (Max and Ultra plans only).
