Add text to a design

Learn how to add text to your design in Photoroom

While a picture paints a thousand words, there are times where text is really important for your designs. For example, you may want to add special offers, product specifications, or contact details.

To add text to your designs and templates, use the Text feature.


On iPhone and iPad

To add text to a design on iPhone or iPad:

  1. On the Create page, select Start from Photo and upload an image. Alternatively, select Your Designs and select one of your existing designs.

  2. Select a Template.

  3. Select Text.

  4. Choose a style of text from the options or select Browse to choose from a list.

  5. Enter your text.

  6. Use finger gestures to move and resize the text.

    Steps 7-15 are optional steps for editing the text.

  7. Select a color circle or the color selector to change the color of the text.

  8. Select Style to choose a different style for the text.

  9. Select Font to change the typeface for the text.

  10. In the Look section, adjust the size, line spacing, letter spacing, and add a background color for the text box.

  11. Use the Alignment settings to change the positioning of the text.

  12. Use the Adjust settings to set the Opacity (transparency) of the text.

  13. Use the Transform settings to rotate or flip the text.

  14. Use the Shadow settings to add, remove, or change the shadow effect on the text.

  15. Use the Outline settings to add, remove, or change the outline around the text.

  16. Select Done.

Tip: If you select Done and then decide you want to make further changes, select the text layer to return to the text editing settings.


On Android

To add text to a design on an Android device:

  1. On the Create page, select Start from Photo and upload an image. Alternatively, select Your Designs and select one of your existing designs.

  2. Select a Template.

  3. Select Text.

  4. Choose a style of text from the options or select Browse to choose from a list.

  5. Enter your text.

  6. Use finger gestures to move and resize the text.

    Steps 7-16 are optional steps for editing the text.

  7. Select a color circle or the color selector to change the color of the text.

  8. Select Style to choose a different style for the text.

  9. Select Font to change the typeface for the text.

  10. In the Look section, adjust the size, line spacing, letter spacing, and add a background color for the text box.

  11. Use the Alignment settings to change the positioning of the text.

  12. Use the Adjust settings to set the Opacity (transparency) of the text.

  13. Use the Transform settings to rotate or flip the text.

  14. Use the Shadow settings to add, remove, or change the shadow effect on the text.

  15. Use the Outline settings to add, remove, or change the outline around the text.

  16. Use the Reflection settings to add, remove, or change a reflection effect.

  17. Select Done.

Tip: If you select Done and then decide you want to make further changes, select Layers. Select the text layer to get to its editing settings.


On Web App

To add text to a design on the Web App (desktop) version of Photoroom:

  1. Make sure you are in the workspace where you want the image to be saved.

  2. On the Create page, click Select a Photo and upload an image. Alternatively, select Your Designs and select one of your existing designs.

  3. Select a Template or use the default white background.

  4. Select Add Text.

  5. Double-click in the text box and enter the text.

    Steps 6 to 17 are optional.

  6. Use the handles on the text box to:

    • Resize the text box

    • Change the position of the text

    • Rotate the text.

  7. Choose a style of text from the options in the left sidebar.

  8. Use the Alignment settings to change the positioning of the text.

  9. Select Font to change the typeface for the text. Some fonts have an extra field for choosing bold, italic, and other different effects.

  10. Use the Text Color settings to change the color of the letters.

  11. Use the Background Color settings to add or remove a color background behind the text.

  12. Use the Transform settings to move, rotate or change the perspective of the text. You can also add a tile effect.

  13. Use the Adjust settings to change the display settings for the text such as brightness, hue, and opacity (transparency).

  14. Use the Shadow settings to add, remove, or change the shadow effect on the text.

  15. Use the Outline settings to add, remove, or change the outline around the text.

  16. Use the Reflection settings to add, remove, or change a reflection effect.

  17. Select Download to download a local copy of the design.

  18. Select Home.

Your design is stored in Your Content.
