In Batch Mode, you can change the background of multiple images at once. It's a convenient way to make your images look part of the same photoshoot. Batch Mode is included on the Pro and Max plans.
Note: The Web App version of Photoroom has options for changing the background in Batch Mode. The Android and iOS versions do not have the background options, but there are other ways to apply a color background or use an AI background.
On iPhone and iPad
On the iPhone and iPad version of Photoroom, Batch Mode does not have Background editing features. But there are two workarounds:
Add the background color or AI background to a template and then apply the template to a batch of images. To learn about using templates in Batch Mode, see Apply a template to multiple images in Batch Mode.
Edit the last image in a batch and give it a color background or AI background, and then use Apply to all. This will add the background to the other images in the batch.
Here, we will show you how to use the Apply to all method.
Select Content.
Select the workspace you want to work in.
Select Batch.
Select Start Batch and then choose the images you want to include in your batch. You can search for images by name or browse your Photos or Files.
Select Add to confirm your choices.
[Optional] Use Template, Resize, and Position to apply a template to your image, change the image size, and change its alignment. You can learn about these settings in Edit multiple photos at once with Batch Mode.
Select the last image in your batch. Photoroom opens the image in the editor.
Important! To make changes that will apply to all images in a batch, you must select the last image in the batch.
Select Layers.
Select the background layer.
To apply a single color as the background, select a color from the list. Alternatively, select the color wheel and choose a different color.
Note: If you don't see a list of colors, select Change and then Color.
To apply an AI background:
Select Change background.
Select AI Backgrounds.
Either choose an auto-generated AI background from the list or select Create a background to make your own.
If you are making your own AI background, enter a description of the background you want in the field and then select the arrow button.
[Optional] Select the context menu for an AI-generated image and then select Change prompt. Describe the changes you want to fine-tune the image. Alternatively, you can select Generate more to create more variations.
[Optional] Select Inspiration and search for an image that the AI can use as a starting point. You can also upload an image of your own.
When you have an image you like, select it.
Select Done in the layer settings and then Done at the top corner of the editor.
Select Apply to all before the timer runs down. The timer is a loading bar that appears at the top of the box.
When you select Apply to all, Photoroom uses the prompt for your chosen AI background to make similar backgrounds for the other images in the batch. Each AI background is created to suit the foreground image colors, shadows, and lighting. Your AI backgrounds will have a similar theme but are unlikely to be identical.
Select Export images.
Tell Photoroom what to do with the image files:
Save to camera roll to save the images to your device's camera roll (photos).
Share image to share your images using other applications.
Save to files to save your images to a folder of your choice.
Select Done.
Your image files are saved or shared to the location you chose. You can now use them in other applications.
Note: Images produced in Batch Mode are not saved as designs in Photoroom. They are only exported as image files.
On Android
On the Android version of Photoroom, Batch Mode does not have Background editing features. But there is a workaround:
Add the background color or AI background to a template.
Apply the template to a batch of images.
