Photoroom occasionally releases new AI models for creating even better results. When you use the AI Backgrounds feature, you can switch between the available AI models.
There are many reasons why you might want to switch AI model:
You want better quality images that are more responsive to your prompts.
Switch to newer AI model.
You want faster image generation, with lower quality images.
Switch to older AI model.
You are using an older device.
Switch to older AI model.
You have upgraded to a newer device.
Switch to newer AI model.
You have reached the daily generation limit for your AI model.
Upgrade your plan to Max to raise the limit or switch to older AI model with no limits, but lower quality images.
On iPhone and iPad
Note: You can only switch between AI background versions if your device is running iOS version 5.9.8 or later.
To switch from one version of the AI backgrounds model to another:

Select Content.
Select the workspace you want to work in.
Either:
Select AI Tools, and then AI Backgrounds, and then upload an image.
Select a design to open it in the editor, then select Backgrounds and then AI Backgrounds.
Use the menu at the top to switch to a different AI model.
Note: When choosing AI models, be aware that there are AI generation limits for the Studio and Studio HD models.
Choose a suggested AI Background or enter a prompt to create a different background (for details, see Add a suggested AI background and Create your own AI backgrounds).
When you have a background you are happy with, select the design to open it in the editor.
[Optional] Use the editor settings to make further changes, such as add text or graphics.
[Optional] Select Export. Use the export settings to save and share your design as an image file.
Select X to save your design and exit the editor.
Note: When you switch from one version to another, the switch only applies to your device. The switch does not apply cross-platform and does not affect other users in your team.
On Android
Note: You can only switch between AI background versions if your device is running Android 4.9.7 (or later).
To switch from one version of the AI backgrounds model to another:
Select Content.
Select the workspace you want to work in.
Either:
Select AI Tools, and then AI Backgrounds, and then upload an image.
Select a design to open it in the editor, then select Backgrounds and then AI Backgrounds.
Use the menu at the top to switch to a different AI model.

To switch from one version of the AI backgrounds model to another:
Log in to Photoroom at app.photoroom.com.
Select the workspace you want to work in.
Either:
Select AI Tools, and then AI Backgrounds, and then upload an image.
Select a design to open it in the editor, then select Backgrounds and then AI Backgrounds.
Use the menu at the top of the AI Backgrounds side panel switch to a different AI model.
Note: When choosing AI models, be aware that there are AI generation limits for the Studio and Studio HD models.
Choose a suggested AI Background or enter a prompt to create a different background (for details, see Add a suggested AI background and Create your own AI backgrounds).
[Optional] Use the editor settings to make further changes, such as add text or graphics.
[Optional] Select Download to download your design as an image file. Enter a file name and choose the file type and then select Download.
Select Home to save your design and exit the editor.
