Make images appear on different layers

Has Photoroom imported multiple objects on the same layer? Learn how to put them on separate layers in this article.

Sometimes Photoroom places multiple parts of an image on a single layer. When that happens, any edit affects the entire layer, even if you only want to change one part. To edit sections independently, split the content into separate layers.

Image below shows content all on the same layer.

To split the content on to different layers:

  1. Select the layer.

  2. Open the layer’s context menu and choose Duplicate.

  3. Crop the duplicate so it shows only the area you want to edit.

    Note: Alternatively, use other removal tools, such as Edit cutout or Retouch.

  4. Return to the original layer and crop out the area that's now isolated on the duplicate.

  5. Align the duplicate over the original to restore the full image layout. You can now edit each part separately.
