Show your products in realistic scenes with Photoroom’s Product Staging feature. It turns a standard product photo into a lifestyle image that places the product in a real-world setting.

3 images. Image 1 is a product photo of a shoe with a studio background. Images 2 and 3 show the shoe being worn for hiking in a woodland.

Each image generation uses AI Credits.


Steps (Web App)

To use Product Staging to show a product in a realistic scene:

As there are many features you can use with Product Staging, we have split the instructions into stages.


Stage 1: Access the Product Staging tool

  1. Select the Space you want to work in.

  2. Select AI Tools.

  3. Select Product Staging.

    If you can't see the Product Staging option, select See all to get a full list of the AI tools.


Stage 2: Use the Product Staging settings

Use the sidebar settings to configure your image:

Product Staging settings are shown in a sidebar.

  • Drop files or select images
    Use to upload a photo to use as a starting point.

  • Size
    Choose the size and orientation for the image.

  • Apply brand style
    Choose whether your Brand description (set in the Brand Kit) should influence the AI when it generates your images.

    Note: If you make changes to the description here, they also apply in the brand kit and will affect the entire Space.

  • Prompt
    Enter any other information for the AI, for example, "show shoe being worn for hiking or other outdoor activities."

When you have made your choices:

  1. Select Generate to create an image. Each generation uses AI credits.

  2. [Optional] Create alternative images by changing the settings and then selecting Generate.


Stage 3: Generate variations and further edits [optional]

After generating an image, hover over it to display its context menu, which provides additional options.

Context menu is available for generated images.

Note: To edit multiple images at once, select the images and then select Edit in Batch. To learn about Batch, see What is the Batch feature?


Stage 4: Finalize and save

When you have an image you are happy with, select it to open additional editing and export options.

You can make final adjustments, such as:


When finished, either:

  • Select Download to export the image file

  • Select Use this image to continue editing in the editor, where you can add text, adjust layers, and apply further design changes

You can use your downloaded file in other applications. If you opened the image in the editor, it is saved in your Space's Designs when you exit the editor.
