With certain AI tools, Photoroom runs an automatic Fidelity Check. During the check, Photoroom compares areas of an AI-generated image to the same areas on the original source image. This helps to identify any parts where the AI has potentially deviated too much from the original.
In this article, we explain what the Fidelity Check is, when it runs, and what choices you have if a generated image requires further attention. We have used Photoroom on iOS as an example, but it works in the same way on Android and the Web App.

When does the Fidelity Check happen?
It happens automatically after generating images for the supported AI tools (see Availability, above).
What happens during the Fidelity Check?
When you use certain AI tools to generate an image, Photoroom automatically checks the result. It analyzes the image and compares it against the original source image.
If Photoroom detects that the generated image is too different to the original, it:
Performs some auto-corrections to improve the generation.
If, after the corrections, the generated image is still too different to the original, Photoroom:
Detects which regions of the image are incorrect
Displays a "Fidelity Check" badge on the tile for the generated image.
At this stage, you can select the tile and choose what should happen next (see Fidelity Check review, below).
Fidelity Check review
If you see "Fidelity Check" on the tile for an image, it means you need to review the results and decide whether to use the generated areas.
Select the "Fidelity Check" image.
Photoroom displays the first area of the image that has potential problems. It shows the area on the generated image and the same area on the original image.
Choose how you want to proceed:
Looks good
To accept the generated version of the area.
Fix it
To reject the generated version of the area and run a repair. During the repair, Photoroom redraws just that specific area based on the original version.
Repeat step 2 for each area that Photoroom identifies as having a fidelity issue.
When you have finished, you can continue to use the generated image in the chosen AI tool.
Does using "Fix it" cost AI credits?
No. "Fix it" is free.
