Resize and extend an image automatically (Web App)

Learn how to use Resize to make a photo fit a different size. Web App.

Photoroom makes it easy to resize your photos for different channels, such as social media posts, store backgrounds, and product listings. By using the Resize tool, you can:

  • Resize your photo to a different size

  • Let Photoroom automatically extend your image to fit the new size, while keeping your image realistic.

For example, in the image below, we used Resize to make a landscape design from a portrait photo.

On Web App

To use Resize:

  1. Select the Space you want to work in.

  2. Select AI Tools.

  3. Select Resize.

  4. Upload a photo.

  5. Select the size you want. Choose from one of the preset sizes or select Custom size and enter the width and height.

    Photoroom applies the new size and automatically extends your image to fill the new area.

  6. [Optional] Use the sidebar to choose different fits:

    • Reset to restore your image to its original size while keeping the new canvas size.

    • Zoom fill for a close-up view of your image.

    • Expanded backgrounds for alternative versions.

    • Generate more to create more versions of the expanded backgrounds.

  7. Select Done to open your design in the editor.

  8. Use the editor to make additional changes, such as adding text or graphics.

  9. Select Download to save your design as an image on your computer. Enter a filename for the download and choose the file type.

  10. Select Home to exit the editor and save your design in Phtooroom.
