This article describes the workflow for editing images in Batch. Many of the steps are optional, but we will cover a typical workflow that includes creating a batch, editing using the side menu, editing using the pill menus, applying changes to multiple images, and downloading the end results.
Before you start
This article describes the latest Batch Editor which started rolling out in August-September 2026. Some customers may still be on the older Batch Editor, which works differently (it does not have layer editing, for example).
Steps (Web App)
The following video shows the creation of a batch, editing using the side menu options and also editing using the pill menu options. The instructions are summarized in sections below.

Create a batch and select images to edit
Create a batch of images.
Note: You can add more images to your batch later, if needed (see Add images to a batch).
Select one or more of the Batch images to edit. To learn about selecting batch images, see How to select images using the Batch feature (Web App).
Tip: You can switch between Grid View and Full Screen View when editing. Grid View is useful when applying edits to multiple images at once and Full Screen View lets you focus on editing one image. You can find out about them in Grid View and Full Screen View in Batch (Web App).
Use the side menu options to edit Batch images
The Batch Editor has options for common bulk editing features in the side menu. These include options for applying templates, changing the background, applying AI shadows, and generating AI images.
Use Templates to apply a template for quick, consistent styling.
Use Resize to change the size of your batch images.
Use Position to change the image alignment and padding.
Use Background to:
Choose whether backgrounds are removed automatically when you upload images to a batch
Apply AI Shadows to create a sense of depth and realism.
Use AI Tools to generate images based on your Batch images.
Add images to a batch by uploading image files.
Use the pill menu options to edit an individual image
Each batch image has pill menus with further editing options. These include some features that are not available from the side menu, such as changing the brightness, moving layers in front or behind, and editing text styles.
You can display a pill menu by clicking on an image or clicking on a layer on the image.
There are pill menus for:
The image as a whole
Each layer of the image.
For example, you could have an image with a photo layer, a text layer, and a graphic layer. The image has a pill menu and each layer has its own pill menu too, and each pill menu contains options relevant to that layer.
You can use the pill menus to change various parts of your image, including the brightness, lighting, layer order, and much more.
Choose whether changes should apply to all images in your batch
When you edit an image, an Apply to all option appears in its pill menu. This gives you a quick way to apply the same edits to other images in the batch.
For example, if you activate Light On on a foreground layer in one image, you can use Apply to all to activate Light On on the foreground layers of your other images too.
If you only want the changes to apply to some of the images, use the Copy/Paste edits feature. You can copy the edits from one image and paste them to other selected images. Copy/Paste edits is available from the context menu if you right-click on an image.
Download your batch images
When you have finished editing, download your batch images. Photoroom exports the images as a zip file. You can unzip the file and then use the image files in your store and other applications.
Note: Photoroom does not save batch images as designs. You need to download them. To store them in Photoroom, you can upload each image as a new design (see Save Batch images to a Space).
